Continuing on some months later; new job which took me overseas for a month then had me move interstate - I finally scored enough of the same model to add my favoured Beastman to the mix as a Chaos NPC:

Followed by the Wood Elf Waywatcher and my version of Sir Ragnar:

Not to be out done, the minions of Chaos hired a new Orc Shaman and Orc Champion to counter the heroic threat:

I did a bit of blend sculpting to make them appear molded with the base. Should get a chance to paint them over the next week as I finish out my basic HQ set. :)

I love those bases. I can make them as well from milliput, but they don't look as good as these.

I like those beastmen. Their semi-static pose is much more threatening than my Battlemasters ones. The Orc Champion ain't bad, either. Do you plan to give him 2 attacks? That would be a good foil for a Hero wielding Orc's Bane.

Very qualitative modification of miniatures. I especially liked the gnomes and imperial soldiers.

Thanks all,

The ORc champion is set to be the defacto stand in for boss fights etc. So he will have whatever stats are given at the time. The shaman, I think I'll raid the archives here to find some rules :)

Thanks Ragner, I've been very careful to ensure that whatever I use or modify, stays within the era styling of the miniatures themselves. This way when all is painted up, you would have a hard time telling original release from the recently acquired pieces.

I've been working on the beastmen, but work has been insanely consuming of spare hours. More soon!

Seb.

Nobody knows how much I want those beastmen.

And, oh, finally a post from ampersand.
Dude, open a thread to show off your stuff. I already have on occasion. Shown off your stuff I mean...

Thanks guys, my time of late was gobbled up painting trophy and player teams for the Blood Bowl EUC nationals here in Australia. Now with my spare time available for personal work, I'll update the progress on this collection.

Appreciate the encouraging replies, been loving the work and ideas appearing on the forum over recent weeks. :)

Just seen this thread for the first time and am very impressed with how your basing technique blends with the board. If I'd not already done most of my base set already  I would have considered this approach as it looks great!

I too am a Bloodbowl player (it's my main hobby!) - off topic I know but is there a good place to see your teams?

Your painting is the ideal that all other HeroQuest painters should strive for. All you've done, you've done well.
