Good info, thanks! They would be my first experience with Privateer Press/WarmaHordes figs.

I plan on making a larger board anyway by about 25%, so I'm not worried. Their corpses will block corridors just like ogres, mwa-ha-ha. "A wandering monster has been alerted to your presence by the sounds of you squishily dismembering a polar warbear to get to the treasure chest behind it." Hehehehe

Size wise they're just about perfect.
Juuuuust barely taller.
But people aren't a uniform height so it doesn't bother me that they aren't perfectly equal.
I'll post a pic in a bit to show you.

HeroQuest (red) Dragon Strike (purple) D&D (blue) size/scale comparison

Image

Either my male dwarves are pretty short or my female dwarf is a good deal taller.
Everyone come in all shapes and sizes.
I just wish they were the same "heroic scale"

I always say that if you wish to preserve the feeling of the original game, the ONLY compatible miniatures are oldschool Citadel pieces from 1987...
Have a look at the last pic posted by aaronAGN (the one with the Barbarian): focus your attention on the feet and hands size of the 3 figures... HQ pieces has unreal proportions, with hands, feet and heads way bigger than a common human (and I love this).

Oldschool citadel minis.
Got it.
Where can I get them?

Copy this: (Citadel,Marauder,Heartbreaker,Kev Smith,Otherworld,Oldhammer,Warhammer OOP,pre-slotta,classic)
and paste it in your ebay searchline and then specify to the "Miniatures & War Games" within "Toys & Hobbies" category.

Otherworld is an extant company that sculpts in a rather classical style and caters to D&D players, using its creature catalog, but fitting the style of '80s and early '90s Citadel.
There's other manufacturers that have done a similar style, but might have some scale difficulties (for instance, Fenryll),
but I'd start with something like above to get a feel for the market and the prices.

Some of the results (I tried it) show you some stuff that might be too modern. That's because of the Citadel and Warhammer OOP search words,
but as I said, see what you like and go from there.

You might also consider the manufacturers (Mithril,Grenadier,Ral Partha)
and/or add whatever others suggest here.

Does anyone own Dungeons & Dragons: Conquest of Nerath?
I'd love to see some size comparison images for the minis.
I know the character/hero/grunt minis are pretty small.
But I'd love to see size comparisons of the mounted units, the monsters (dryads, undead orcs, iron golems, etc) and the dragons.
