Question!

Postby guest » Thursday February 18th, 2010 10:04am

Hello,
my name is Sven and I come from Germany. I am sure here not at the right place for this lie close,
but I still hope to me can be helped!
First, the side is really great, just because with us not all extensions have appeared and the German version was bungled to the original very much.
Here now my concern:
I wanted to print out to me with pleasure the cards, because these exist on both sides and I wanted to print out them also so. But, both sides have slipped always a little bit, thus this is shifted the right edge on text side always about 5 mms and I always have a white edge , if I cut out them. Puts all the same which settings I in the printer. If it can be one of both halves is never concentric!?
What can I do there?
I hope my english is not too bad,
the best greetings
Sven

You're best be for double-sided printing will be at a print shop. Their equipment will align them a lot better than a personal printer will.

Alternately, you can also print each "side" of the card on two separate pages cut & then glue them together. Not the prettiest, but effective.

Yeah, unfortunately, with the multitude of different home printer models, not all printers work the same. The best suggestions I have are:

1). Ensure the "Auto-Rotate and Centre" box under print handling is checked.

2). Use Phoenix' idea. Print on two sheets, glue and cut. Best to glue the two sheets together before cutting everything out as one side (most often the card backs, depending on the card design) are a full-bleed. Full-bleeds are larger so you can cut out one side and slight misallignments still allow for the full card on the one side to fit.

3). Use Phoenix' other idea. Take them to a print shop. Which is the best idea as they will not only be able to adjust the alignment of their printers manually after a couple test runs, but the print quality is by far superior.

It may seem frivolous, but depending on the print shop, they may even cut them for you. I had mine printed on tabloid-sized paper (11x17) (which cut down on the number of 'pages') and they had a huge paper cutter (hydraulic-which is the best) and it was perfect. I made the cards about 1.5% larger and then had them cut to 'standard' size, which was just about perfect. that said, I'm verrrrry happy about them.
