I was searching randomly about Atari remake homebrews and found (by second time; first time i found in gamesdbase.com) a game called Gauntlet (there were many versions fo Atari ST, XL/XE, Lynx, NES, Arcade, etc). I guess it there is some features that reminds Hero Quest closely (less Gauntlet 3, because is outdoor seeming an ordinary isometric adventure).

Then i search older videos about that game and randomly found (further than older versions) too a newer version, remake to PC, PS4, etc.

About "great", at first i guess that game is it, even the older versions is good.

Who of you know that game already?

- Gauntlet PC (remake 2014) - official trailer

- Gauntlet 2014 some reviews (IGN rated just 6.8)

Older versions:

- Gauntlet (Atari ST)

- Gauntlet 2 (Atari ST)

- Gauntlet (Atari XL/XE)

- Gauntlet (Arcade)

Yes! I had the luck of playing the remake with 3 friends and it's great--it's very exciting, and especially fun when everyone is jockeying for gold and food. A couple of the friends remarked how similar it was to Heroquest, too!

I have it for the PS4. It was a free game on one of their monthly giveaways. It's really excellent and I'd recommend it. It's very close to the original game, obviously with better graphics. I love how we still fight over who grabbed the food or gold!

I had it on my Spectrum +2 and it was one of my favourite games. Got to level 115 before the tape ran out.

I played it a bit a while back. It's a "good" game, but it doesn't really excel in any regard.

Gauntlet...truly one of the grandest arcade games from the days of yore.

I remember playing Gauntlet as an actual stand up arcade game, in the mall, with a friend of mine.
That has always been one of my favorite video games. I've always wanted to figure out a good way
to simulate the game for the tabletop.

I remember that game as a kid. Cost too much to play for the most part. Most video games were 1 quarter or token per player, Gauntlet required 2. So I would play something else. Now if some other kids fired it up I was there immediately to watch them play.

Ha! I had an unsupervised cleaning job back then, so I'd stop at the arcade between locations and play on the clock. To sweeten it further, I played an Indiana Jones game that awarded redeemable tickets for tokens beforehand. After twenty minutes or so of that I was set to play Guantlet for free for about 45 minutes. Barbarian needed a raise badly.
