So I guess this is the Nurgle box, I much prefer it to the Tzeentch box. Not a big fan of the tile art though, looks like cheap cgi. And the price is still insanely high, you get so much more in other dungeon crawlers for that money - GW should be aiming at $100 to get people into their games, not just catering to the quality game market. The success of Blood Bowl must have proved this to them already.

BloodBowl has far fewer components though, and a thinner box.

Also, ost other competing crawlers are manufactured overseas. GW still produces their minis in the UK/USA at their own factories.

I think the re-release of WHQ has been highly disappointing.
Two things REALLY matter for me in this game: Miniatures and tiles.

It MAY just be nostalgia speaking, but I really don't think it is... The tiles for the original WHQ has never been surpassed. Each tile was a little painting; a small piece of art. Everything had a clear, well defined look. Everything was integrated into the artwork itself. There was no need for a square overlay. The squares themselves was a part of the art.
These new tiles I find ugly and messy. I don't understand why almost all modern tiles go for that lazy square overlay.
Sure you don't have to think squares into your design, but what is artistic freedom worth if you are just gonna crap a square layer over the artwork anyway?

The miniatures are... not *bad*... But I guess rather than tzeench birdmen, spidergoblins and Sigmarines I would have preferred more traditional dungeon creatures and heroes.
These arm mostly >Warhammer< miniatures and don't really fit very seamless into most other settings.

Goblin-King shrugged...

This is exactly why I've picked up my set of Silver Tower (and likewise teh new one when it arrives) sans-minis, I only want it for the rules stuff, as the board art was terrible and I hated teh sculpts (way to AoS for my tastes!)

24 models plus several large plastic templates vs 31 models. The amount of cardboard is the same. No custom dice in WQ. I'd say it all evens out in the end.

The biggest difference is that BB already had all the rules fixed up, while this has a big quest book, but you'd think that GW would eat the lower profits with the benefit of gaining new customers and introducing them to the Age of Sigmar world. I guess not in this case.

Note that this version is 4 players plus an EWP. I liked the randomly generated aspect of the WHQ game. We'll see how this goes.

It has character leveling, which I do not care for. Why does this mechanic have so much traction... lack of originality.

And the AoS minis are not my thing. I proxy my dwarf as the Warden King (Dwarf Lord with heroic brew) and my Ampersand Barbarian as any warrior, etc. My son doe's like them though.

I did enjoy Silver Tower and if there are 8 quests, then it is < $20 per night of gaming for 5 people... So I did order it last night. I expect that EWP will be able to substitute SilverTower baddies when suggested, like the optional expansions in SilverTower. Should be "good"

I'm enjoying the critique about grid overlays here. And I'm rethinking my Forest board. I think even outdoor tiles can be done without grids in a hand drawn fashion and be very cool. And challenging.

Blood Bowl may have 2/3 the models, but it only has three sprues, Silver tower has something like 14 sprues, each needing it's own mould!

Blood Bowl may have about teh same amount of cardboard, but it's a single four-fold board, and two copies of the same secondary single piece board. Silver tower has multiple pieces with irregular shapes and jigsaw cuts.

Blood Bowl definitely has less by way of rule book.

So while there isn't a *lot* less, Blood Bowl is infinitely simpler to make as a product than Silver Tower!

Totally... The tiles here are bad, especially when they had already figured out how to do it right. The minis have got worse and the cards look too texty. If this is how it looked 20 years ago I'd of never been drawn into it.
