Additional Home Made Tiles?

Well learning curve, using some AHQ Reforged, EAHQ Second Edition and some tiles via Neuralstasis here I've got many items to back onto card stock.

I decided to do some initial testing with some off scale prints - as I've now worked out the scale issues to match with original.

So far I've found some issues with pva glue adhesion to the board - bubbles/creases. The board and paper is the same depth as the originals.

Gloss Spray paint didn't do much. A couple of brands of acrylic varnish actually pulled the ink back out of the paper.

And a brush application of glossy modge podge left a lot of heavy streaks. (Criss/Cross alternation)

I think some was related to paper quality, some the fact it was inkjet ink.

So I've bit the bullet and had some laser print copies done on some heavier paper. Sadly glossy paper was not available locally,

I've now going to sponge brush the thinned PVA glue to the board and the reverse of the prints, apply to board with a plastic guide tool - then sponge brush the modge podge over the top.

Cutting with many small runs with a sharp hobby knife and a metal rule won out of single passes or scissors by miles.

My local officeworks chain store has a self service photo printing setup that does semi gloss photo quality prints at pretty stupidly cheap. (at least I think)

15c for a 6x4 inch
$1 for a 6x6 inch
$3.50 for a 8x10 inch etc...

The photo paper is nice a study and glues well onto card. I made a a bunch of extra furniture and TitD stuff tokens with it just gluing on corrugated card from boxes. Made a few rooms too.

use mounting board. maybe 2mm thick. do not use a water based glue as its drying will warp your boards.
either print onto photo paper or get your prints done at a professional printers.
additionally. you could try self adhesive printer paper.

if not use a mounting spray to stick them down. this will give less tension on the boards and avoid warping.

last but not least. dont paint over them. you will just dampen the ink and...yup you done it. in additon i got some new tiles flaoting around here too if you fancy using those.

All good stuff.. didn't think about photo prints.

Mounting spray I sourced was more like spray foam.

The laser prints have not smudged like the inkjet prints. I really do want a glossy finish - many thin layers is better than gooping it on.

And the mild warming isn't an issue as I'm using oversized boards and cutting back.

I like those boards are they print 'actual size'? - but so far I've got 12 more 5x5 rooms I'm happy with, and some pools/pits/statues/mould etc.

Next to try some of the bigger stuff.

If you card stock does warp just apply the same glue to the reverse it should pull them back flat. Its why I do all my tiles double sided.

Yep. Good idea. but i just left all my boards compressed for 24hrs. Mass is mass. I'm not confident about double sided accuracy, but i did think about it.
