Dumbing down the hobby for profit? Nah, they wouldn't do that, would they? Am I the only person here who finds it weird that many boardgame DCs nowadays use more playing cards than UNO?

Boardgaming is supposed to sharpen our minds, but we keep dumbing it down instead, and you can quote me on that. Back in 1989 very few gamers would have said that AHQ requires commitment and effort—quite the contrary, actually. It's much lighter than AD&D, for example, one of the titles they were used to back then. AHQ is, in fact, an already dumbed-down version of AD&D! We keep encouraging such a trend, but it will come back at us someday in ways we are not yet able to anticipate.

Anyway, as I said above, AHQ appeals to that type of quirky gamer more, the one who finds cards in DCs out of place and disrespectful even—"do they think we’re dumb or something?" I mean, the type of old-school gamer who doesn’t find AHQ to be such a commitment and effort, and that certainly doesn't care much about profits either.

Sure, I get what you're saying. I had many enjoyable hours playing AHQ. The old box still sits there full of painted heroes, henchmen and a ton of skaven that I purchased. Good luck with yor project.

Thank you very much! I'm not quite sure what your point was, though, but you proved mine. |_P

Just to clarify, I mean that you left questions unanswered, so I'm not sure what your stance on the subject of this thread is; that's all. I already know your personal preferences and other opinions, but not what you think about the actual issue at hand. Thanks again!

P.S. By the way, this is only a thought exercise about AHQ (not us), intended to be as objective as possible. As with everything, assessing the nature of AHQ is the first logical step toward fixing it. People can do whatever they want in the end, of course.
