Sorcerers Table uses?

Man it's tough trying to buff spells/Scrolls if the Wizard or Elf is at the Sorcerers Table. Here's a bunch off the forum:

1# Increase damage/health by one.
2# Do 1pt of damage along with any spell.
3# Hit two targets with same spell.
4# Make copy of scroll.
5# Make a couple magical throwing daggers.
6# Gain +1Att or Def for the next room.
7# Enchant one heros weapon to do full damage once.
8# Enchant one heros boots +2 Move.
9# Gain a Chaos Spell.
10# ?

Some of these are way to OP & I sorta like 7 - 9, but it's difficult to figure out what you could do at the Sorcerers Table that's reasonable.

I've implemented it thus in my campaigns: If there's no Quest note designating treasure the room with one, and the Wizard searches for treasure, he can choose to draw a random Spell Scroll instead of drawing a Treasure card.

Maybe for the Elf too. Alchemist Bench, same deal except it's a random Potion card (using Sjeng's potions deck elsewhere on the site).

I devised a 2d6 roll table, complete with flavor texts (really tapping into my Mordheim days) for the Wizard to examine the Sorcerer's Table. The lowest rolls have different results for the Wizard to lose some or all Mind and/or Body Points. I like to give some leeway for Zargon as to how much to punish the players and when. The point of these nasty results is to screw with the Heroes, not to ruin the whole quest.

The middle results are the usual "You fail to learn anything" or recovering a previously lost Mind Point, while the good stuff is recovering spent Spells - again, Zargon should have the liberty to either make the Wizard draw a random used Spell or, if the situation is dire, allow them to retrieve a specific one they want. The biggest rolls grant an access to a random Chaos spell. However, not only is casting these taxing to the Wizard (Mind Points) but I actually came up with a sneaky ploy to not tell the Wizard player which Spell they got, and just try their luck. And yes, Summon Undead does not summon friendly skeletons :twisted:

I should say I originally was thinking the unmarked Sorcerer's Table RESTORES a used spell to the Wizard, but if he hasn't used any up in the quest so far he can draw a random Spell Scroll. Ditto for the Elf. And the unmarked Alchemist's Bench is a random Potion card for either hero. They can choose to do that OR draw from the treasure deck as normal when searching. This is all pre-ROTDM of course, but I am interested in that system as well!

Ill merge both ideas but use only a 1d6 though.
1,2,3= Magic dagger.

The idea of the Wizard having to lose a MindPoint to use a Chaos Spell is reasonable, but having there be a risk involved when accessing the Sorcerers Table at all, ill need to think about.

The odds of getting a Chaos Spell would need to be really high if I'd risk a Body or Mind Point to even gain it let alone use it. If we're on the same page that a Chaos Spell is the coolest/most powerful thing you could get..then I am on board & might take the risk as a player.

To give it dome flavor, sometimes I use a houserule when they search in a room with a sorceress table and no treasure. They roll a combat dice: white shield, they get a random spell scroll, skull they find nothing and if they roll a black shield a burst of flame hit them with 2 combat dices and they cant defend.

While in the room with the Sorcerers table, if the Wizard rolls ONE more WhiteShield than needed while defending, he may instantly perform the "Attitude Adjustment" doing 2Att.
TWO WhiteShields & the Wizard may perform the "Tombstone Piledriver" doing 3Att.
Monsters defend as normal & the EW's turn then resumes.
