True, but if there isn't any QN treasure you still draw a card from the deck...

That's right. I don't see the problem. My deck for the first search contains few hazards.
I'll just quote myself:
*As some of you might know, I have three different decks of treasure cards,
- the Golden Deck (smaller gold sums, average amount of potions, few dangers; 1st search in a room),
- the Silver Deck (larger gold sums, few potions, many dangers; 2nd search in a room),
- and the Blue Deck (average gold sums, average amount of dangers, many potions; most Furniture searches).
In bold the respective advantages that make each search attractive enough to be actually taken most of the time as soon as a room is cleared from monsters.

In addition, there are treasure chests. handled normally.
A quest note treasure replaces always the first search in a room (the draw therefor).
Only two searches per room are allowed (by two different heroes).

I usually sort the deck before the game, much like cynthialee, but the players shuffle and/or cut before they draw. Baddies are shuffled back in by yours truly.

Due to the vagaries of fate and the fickle nature of chance it seems a proper way of doing things. I considered how many times I had seen a string of hazards or treasures come up and considered, perhaps it should not be left to chance.

A proper distribution of cards seemed in order. Does this mean the players think they know what is next in the deck? Yes, but they are often wrong.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I had two treasure decks, but used some of the low end gold cards to make my Weapons Rack cards on account I have 3 weapon racks.

I counted a normal deck of 24 ( I believe) cards, there are 3 traps, 5 monsters and the rest are loot.
I have kept the percentage of each cards correct.

I like the randomness of the deck. Except the fact that I have a high chance of pulling monsters or traps. I have pulled all monsters and 2 traps from 1 normal treasure deck, its twice as bad with the larger deck.
My son seems to make out like a bandit, without playing a bandit. :elf:

PS: my portrait is a pic of my son when he was going through his Wolverine phase. he really goes all out with his phases. :P

Knightkrawler, like your idea of different decks for repeated searches in the same room.

I can kind of understand the benefits of stacking the deck, afterall, the treasure has been there for a long time, it presence wasn't fixed by the random shufflemof a deck of cards just before the heroes got there. But at the same time without the randomness you might as well note the traesure in the quest notes.

The more I have thought on this idea the more it has grown on me. I think I actually like it allot...
