Before my time. I didn't know there were ever night elves. Did they just rename them to dark elves or were they something different?

They where something different. They merged them with the Dark Elves.

Similarly, between 3rd and 4th ed, they merged the Sea Elves and High Elves.

I always though blood elves would make a good faction, two good guy elves two bad guy elves, blue, green, black, red. Vampiric elves that start off the same as standard elves but get more powerful as you go up the ranks. Witch elves could be with both dark and blood elves. That was before I'd seen ever blood elves mentioned. I've got a blood elf faction for HQ but it's one of the many monster groups I haven't got around to finishing yet.

It should also be noted that in the UK version, Sir Ragnar betrayed the Empire at this point in the story, aiding Skulmar's escape.
