Potion of Healing — Revised

Postby Malcadon » May 1st, 2026, 4:52 pm

When you use a Potion of Healing, you can drink it all or you can drink it partly, the with the following effects:

When you drink a Potion of Healing fully, you recover 4 to 6 lost Body Points and remove the potion from your character sheet. You roll a Movement Die but the minimum BP recovered is 4. So there is a chance of recovering 5 or 6 on a good roll.

When you drink a Potion of Healing partly, you recover 2 to 3 lost Body Points and the potion becomes a Potion of Lesser Healing... or just rewrite it as "Potion of Healing (half)". With a Potion of Lesser Healing, you roll a Combat Die, and if it comes up a White Shield you recover 3 BP, otherwise its just 2 BP.

In most cases, players would quickly opt for partial drinking, especially those playing the Elf or Wizard as their Body Points are too low to justify a whole potion.

To make things more challenging, Zargon players might just make the default "Potion of Healing" (from Quest Notes, Treasure Decks, etc.) work like a Potion of Lesser Healing, as noted above (remove all Potion of Lesser Healing cards from the game). As the 4-6 BP healing potions are still ideal for the Barbarian and Dwarf, players should find (about once a Quest; maybe less?) what are essentially double-sized healing potions. Although something like "Cask of Healing" sounds way better and it conjures an image of a mighty warrior kicking back a small barrel of healing after a rough battle.

How does that sound?
