This quest makes use of tiles from Inked Adventures (found cheap on DriveThruRPG). Notes are within
the quest which tile pack(s) are needed.

INTRO:
Lord Garwell, the governor of the Town of Lissenloch has called on you for help. You see, a number of years ago, Lord Garwell built a park on the edge of Lissenloch, opening it to all of the townspeople to enjoy at their leisure. This garden has trees, flowers, and animals of all sorts. He made an agreement with a local druid enclave, the Druids of the Fountain Grove, to have an apprentice druid come and tend the garden.

Recently, however, the apprentice druid has been reporting to Lord Garwell, and to his enclave leaders, that animals are being found dead within the garden and that several plants have been found black and decayed. One of the enclave leaders came to inspect the garden and found little. He spoke with my lord and explained that the garden is his responsibility and that an apprentice is the only resource they would be able to provide to him in the garden's tending and upkeep. He would not return again.

Last week, however, the apprentice did not return from the garden in the evening, as he always has. Town guards were sent to find him, only to discover that goblins had taken over the garden. My lords, our town does not have the resources or the manpower to repel a complete take-over of town property. Lord Garwell requests that you come at once to fight off the goblins and restore peace and order to the garden and to Lissenloch. Lord Garwell is prepared to offer you 100 gold coins, and several of the local businesses have stated that they will give you a small discount on items bought within their stores.

Let me know what you think!

I think it's very interesting. I assume you've made it to play with your son?

I've become a big fan of using non-standard boards, almost always Heroic Maps or Paizos flip mats. I've not tried Inked Adventures but do like the look of the artwork. So I'm thrilled to see another person use different boards. I will take a closer look at Inked Adventures offerings very soon.

I really like the way you've worked a story in here with the scroll. It reminds me quite a bit of Castle of the Winds story. I've found that due to my groups adult age having a nice story thread is imperative to maintaining interest. A simple story for children, to keep them engaged is awesome as well.

I like that its not overly complicated, the new mechanics are nice and simple. Didn't exactly follow when the roaming Goblins were to enter for sure, but very easy to figure it out on the fly.

The only real question I had is how many heroes and at what level you're planning for? My only real comparison are those I've played with. A smart player would easily move section to section clearing a few goblins without causing all the rest to be revealed. Again, at least if I played it with my child, he'd probably not be so careful and run several Heroes all over the place triggering a horde of goblins. Same with the lower levels, I think a Hero with equipment would slash through without much of a knick.

Very cool quest. I can see myself playing it with my son and teaching him more about the game with it. Probably not a decked out group of grown-ups though.

Really like that scroll for a story hook. That idea could very well be stolen!

Actually - I started this quest almost 2 years ago...and it was mostly finished...and then I forgot about it.
Finally dug it up and finished it up last night. Long story short - no, not originally created to play with my
son...though we could now.

As for level - I don't know. It is a fairly easy quest, so probably for less seasoned heroes...maybe somewhere
within the original quest pack...just kind of stick it in somewhere, perhaps.

After looking over things last night...I had thought about changing the garden scene to make it so all goblins
are placed on the board with the first hero entering. And I may still do that...it would make more sense, and
make it a bit harder. It would require a little actually role-playing on the part of the Evil Wizard. Goblins
would have to be played with a bit of intelligence...hiding...trying to corner the heroes...maybe a few run
inside to warn the others, which would, of course, change what happens in the second part.

Glad you like it, though, for the most part (it seems). I've been trying to make more quests using others' tiles.
I love the heroic maps tiles and inked adventures tiles most. I understand a lot of folks here don't really like
using anything other than the original board...and I know some of the heroic maps sets can get a bit expensive,
especially when you count in having to print them. But I think it is worth it to at least look at the possibilities.

Very nice, love the contrast of the above and below ground sections. The only problem I have with it is the traps at the end. I don't see why monsters don't set off traps so in my rules they do. With the standard rules a hero could search those corridors and know where the traps are but still not be able to move through them but Grun-nak can.

What's the scroll? It says to look below in the After The Adventure section but it just says there to give them the scroll.

I had originally put the scroll part in there because this would be the first of several quests
for a story line. I didn't make any notes, and so I have no idea what that story line would be
at this point (I made this a long time ago). I figured I would leave it in...give an option to the
Evil Wizard it he or she wanted to use it to continue a story they had in mind, perhaps.

I agree with you about the traps, for the most part. But, in this case, I think it could work.
This is a personal escape tunnel for the Grun-nak, and so he would know where those traps
are and could bypass them easily. The heroes can do a search and know where a trap is,
and attempt to jump over that space, perhaps.

Nice Quest that uses some fun tiles. I have some of them, as well. I edited the OP title and bottom a bit to help anyone wanting to play. Feel free to adjust the numbers.

Another way to handle the outdoor Goblin placement is to section the map into 2-4 "rooms." The tiles wouldn't need to show this. When a new "room" is entered, place all of those Goblins within that map area onto the board.
