[Group][Single Quest] - Vendikan Guild Complex

So, this is a set-up for two quests, but it is, in fact, just one. And don't worry - each only takes up about 1/2 of the
game board, so it's not as huge as it sounds. Just the design called for the way I set it up, that's all.

I'm in the process of trying to get heroscribe set up with more icons. Not having a lot of luck with it, even with
instruction from derfel on how to put new icon packs into the program. And, for some reason, I can't get my
computer to download the entire all-in-one pack. Not sure if the computer just doesn't like long downloads or
what.

Until i get all the icons in, though, I'm using the simple icons that are in basic heroscribe. I've explained how they're
used in the game notes. Sorry for the inefficient way of writing the game...best I can do for now.

Otherwise, enjoy. Should be a good quest.

Nice quest! I'd add some rocks to block off useless passageways next to the door in board 2. Heroes can now run around the entire board before finding their way in.
And you forgot the ; at the "X":
Move: 4AD: 2DD: 1Body: 1Mind: 1

doesn't the HeroScribe icon pack have snakes and rats?

One - I will replace the door I used in the second board to the door with the "out" arrow...I'll just turn it
around so that it points in. That should take care of any confusion there.

I'll also fix the editing - thanks for pointing that out.

As for the icons - I've had trouble working with the icon packs for heroscribe. I finally managed to get the
all in one pack to download. This computer I have just wouldn't do it. Luckily the block filter at work didn't
block the heroscribe website. I downloaded it there.
Also, I couldn't get it to work, where you manually place individual icons together. Again, not sure why. It
might be this computer, it might be something in the editing that I am doing wrong...there is no telling.

Now, however, the program is too large and I can't get it to run on the computer at work. It will run here at
home, but I rarely get time to work on stuff here at home. I may have to simply do as I have done - and use
normal icons and simply explain what they should be. OR - switch back and forth between different packs
as I can use them. We'll have to see how that works out, though. There would probably be a lot of issues with
needing icons from various packs.

Hi torilen, I'm glad you'd download the All-In-One Icon Pack! I'm not glad that I'd upload it only few hours ago, so you probably have the old version; current one includes a lot of debugging popups explaining what's missing into HeroScribe to make it run: is it a missing icon? A missing reference in Objects.xml? Misspelled code? Every error will pop up and you may be able to find out the reason why your edits aren't working. In case you cannot download the whole All-In-One once again, tell me and I'll have the .jar file upload it somewhere for you to download.
Also, please note that All-In-One is much needy when it comes to ram, so you may try this trick to run it on your machine:
Derfel Link wrote:reason why it is not starting up may be due to the size of ram Java is allowed to run on your machine. You might want to try this: in the SemiModular HeroScribe folder, create a file named HeroScribe.bat, then edit it with Notepad (I threw that out and only use Notepad++) and save it with this line (feel free to tweak the MB Java shall handle, I opted for 2GB when helping another user with the same -I think- issue):

Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java" -Xms2048M -Xmx2048M -jar "C:\Program Files\HeroScribe\HeroScribe.jar"

Of course, first path should lead to the current java.exe folder and second one to the SemiModular HeroScribe.jar folder.
Then run HeroScribe by double clicking HeroScribe.bat and let me know if that works to you.

It has worked with me, drathe and others, so it may work with you too.

Thanks...I'll give that a try.
I did figure out another way to work things until I can try it, and until I can download the new version
(I say until I get a chance because I'm working on a lot of stuff right now - you know...priorities :)

I figured out that I can run the normal heroscribe at work, save the game, and then replace or add what
I need to at home. It takes only a little time to replace and add, as opposed to creating a whole game
from scratch.

But again...thanks for all the help.

Sure, priorities always get in the way :P
By the way, here's the updated program file: it's only 63KB long and it'll tell you what kind of errors you've come into when adding new icons. Just paste it in your HeroScribe folder and run the program: in case of error it'll pop up what you need to get fixed in order to properly load HeroScribe.
Cheers
