I've seen this in threads before but I just wanted to say I like the simplicity of it. Very HQ vanilla-ish. A counter without requiring any extra dice rolls sounds like it's from the original game. Keeps the game pace up.

This is exactly the reason I like the rule too, it's like something the original game designers would have included in an expansion pack. I wish I could say that I came up with it myself but I looted it from someone else, almost certainly here at the Inn.
I'm strict in that my added HQ rules ALWAYS have to be swift, easy, and fit the the original flavour of the game. So;
- Hero rolls his combat dice to attack a beastman.
- Beastman rolls 3 combat dice to defend.
- any skulls the Beastman rolls in his defence are used in a counterattack.
- Hero has to defend the counterattack using shields from his initial roll.

Simples!

You guys, these ideas are fantastic! Thank you!

I'm gonna see what size they are compared to each other and the other figures once they arrive and probably use many of these ideas.

So my friends finally came in the mail yesterday. Turns out they're about the same size:

They're also definitely gonna need some work stripping that paint, rebasing, and repainting them. But I think calling them Ungor and Gor would probably work great. And once I get some Minotaurs, I'll paint them all the same color and that'll be my Beastman monster category to go alongside my Greenskin, Undead, Chaos, and burgeoning Vermin group.

Here they are by a Barbarian, a Fimir, and (speaking of vermin) one of my rebased and painted Skaven:

Also, whoever did the BM Chaos Beastmen also made a couple of these guys. I don't think I'll keep them since they're a little too weird for my game, though I get that canonically Warhammer Beastmen are supposed to have all kinds of weird mutations. I think it's not for me, though.

Elsewhere, Daedelus mentioned the HQ25 Minotaur stats:

The HQ25 Minotaur worked up by Inn members:

Minotaur Mv:6 At:5 De:5 BP:5 MP:1
Large Monster: adjacent and diagonal attack

I'll have to remember that for comparison as a base for when I buy some minotaurs.

My Minotaur stats are Mv 6, Att 6, Def 3, Bdy 6, Mnd 2.

So, do I understand that you're not using them?
Buying new ones?
Selling those?

Edit:
Wait, are you just referring to the beastmen in the last pic with the weird spine-sword hand thing?

Here's mine. And I just use the monster stats I found here at the inn.

Yeah, I'm just gonna get rid of those two weird spine claw guys. All the rest have the normal axes and I'm keeping them.

Do you have a cleaner copy of this card art or know where it came from? I don't think I've seen any art yet that matches the BM best men so well and I like whatever that cool icon is that's being used there.

Zealot's got some really cool stuff, but I feel like a lot of their mini characters just don't have that fun Oldhammer feel that I like. The beastman is especially like that. However, I'm all over their scenery pieces and doors. I just need a lot more money for them.
