I honestly have no idea how you would make it work in HeroQuest.

Here's it's stats in D&D though.

Well, my DM was well versed in D&D, so there will be more to report on how dragons work....when we eventually get around to them.

I'd still like one which is about 2 to 3 times larger than the gargoyle, has a long neck and big wings. Am still searching.

Lol you could get this one. It's larger than the gargoyle... though way more than 2 or 3 times larger.

Here's a picture to give you a to scale reference.

Movement: 15 (cause its big)
Attack: 20 (a lot of power can be put into one attack)
Defense: 8 (cause its big and not that hard to hit)
Body Points: 50 (cause its BIG and well its big)
Mind Points: 30 (cause dragons are very smart and cunning)

can use all spells cause a dragon that big has been around for a while and is very very smart

thats what i think its stats should be
what you think?

either on this site, or it was on the original aginn's inn - there was a large list of monsters, which included dragons.

Check this site out too - check out the section for Monsters - I've got the same list posted there:

Maybe my DM will join this site and collaborate a bit...who knows?
But it seems to me that while the dragon is a BIG target - doesn't necessarily make him easy to hit!
Furthermore - when you DO manage to hit him, he's probably pretty resistant...realistically, they ought to find humans ridiculously easy to beat - it's like the family cat trying to kill you.
He really has less than 1% chance to do it; all he does is scratch/bite you and really piss you off. Then you kick him thru the wall...

Although I keep getting reminded of Sicarius Dracorum.
Magic-made; it penetrates Vermithrax Perjorative easily. The shield, made of dragon scales, is immune to the flame. Of course, you'd need one hell of a BIG shield... the heat would still be a major problem.

For me, pulling the suicide stunt of fighting a dragon needs to have you very very specially equipped!

I also really dig the idea of the Beholder, which I know, is D&D and NOT HQ...

I like everything except for the attack 20. While I can see where you're coming from splitting it up the way torilen did on his dragon's makes it a little more fair for the hero's. Because unless if they have some uber awesome equipment that was added in or something. There's no way you would survive. Even the barbarian with borin's armor would get instantly killed. I'd recommend having it like this.
Movement: 15 (can also fly)
Attack: 8(bite), 4(front claws), 4(back claws), and 4(tail)
Defense: 8 (uses white shields to block damage)
Body Points: 50
Mind Points: 10

Special: Can attack with any or all of it's different types of attacks. However, if it attacks with everything it cannot use any spells or it's breath power.

Fire breath: Choose 8 spaces in a straight line All figures (both hero's and monsters) on those spaces who are in line of sight are affected by this attack. Roll 4 attack dice once for all affected figures. Affected figures roll defense dice separately. It may use this power up to two times per turn. If it uses this two times it may not do any other attacks.

Spells: It may have up to 6 randomly chosen chaos spells. It may cast up to two spells per turn, but if it does this it may not do any other attacks this turn.

So basically this is how I figure a round would look. It could either:
1st round: Attack with bite, front claws, back claws and tail (these can be against different targets by the way)
2nd round: Attack with bite and front claws (or any combination of them). Then use it's fire breath or a spell.
3rd round: Fire breath and then cast a spell.
4th round: Use Fire breath twice
5th round: Cast two chaos spells.

I like this mainly because while it's still very very dangerous to fight it. There's an actual chance that the hero's could win if they wait until they're strong enough to challenge it. Oh by the way I ripped the fire breath idea off from the HeroScape dragon. Just in case if anyone was wondering where I got that idea. What do you think?

Dude Beholder's are frickin' sweet! We should make them work in HeroQuest. I agree with you on the idea of resisting normal weapons. If someone ever does put a dragon (especially one of the size I posted) in one of their quests. They should make it to where they have to go and find a special set of weapons and armor to even hurt it.
