Updated the monsters and rules. Transfix is a bit more complicated than I was intending but I think it's cool enough to be kept the way it is.

More importantly, I updated the poem. I might actually see if I can get it published.

They obviously wanted not to miss any vampiric topic there is, so to satisfy the different tastes of customers (=sell more figures), and to have more unit classes in the game (=sell more figures).

I find GW do try and cover all the bases (=sell more figures) rather than be consistent and whilst I haven't played anything GW-wise for many years (decades in fact) my recent return to HeroQuest with a new generation and the *can't think of the right phrase here* (you know the crack in the wall in Doctor Who that wasn't in fact a crack but two pieces of space-time that should have never been in contact but had been thrust together) feeling is still there.

On the one hand you have the Tolkienesque - Orcs, Goblins, Dark Sorceror / Necromancer (single point of Evil) versus the Good guys - Wizards, Elves, Dwarves, Humans (Hobbits) which is a little too black and white dualism for me (but perfect for my younger generation) on the other hand you have a human only (or at least human originally) dark and grim fantasy world with the awesome Chaos Powers, fantastic Skaven nibbling at the roots of human civilization, Cultists in the rotten heart and Mutants and God(s) know(s) what hidden in the deep caves and thick forests, to my mind two entirely different fantasies with different outlooks and audiences pressed reluctantly face to face!

Too long a ramble I forgot my point!

"The crack isn't in the wall, it's a crack in the universe. Take the wall away and the crack would still be there." :D Moments like like are why Dr Who is the best thing on tele.

I've never seen it as a mixture of two different worlds. It's fantasy world so it can be as diverse as you want it to be.

by the way I've edited the transfix and chill touch rules to make them better.

You are correct with regards to the crack, but I think my point was intended to be that with the Warhammer world (and therefore to an extent with HeroQuest especially when taking it beyond its original background) is that you kind of have to pick a consistent theme and then select the pieces that fit rather than squeeze them all in (at least in my opinion, obviously you can do what you want!)

Undead comes in so many flavours (umm "dusty" springs to mind) such as the 'Ancient Egypt' theme with Mummies and Tomb Kings and the like hidden in Pyramids or possibly museums waiting to rise again, Vampires as hidden in human society - potentially mere immortals that require others life force to perpetuate their existence as opposed to being dead (possibly with Werewolves as their nemesis but that is a whole other story...) perhaps just another form of cultists, in the LOTR world the Necromancer is simply the Evil One in a different guise and the undead Wraiths are simply just bad guys like the Orcs and Goblins but more scary. Revenants of whichever sort are dead and reanimated but Vampires, Wraiths and Ghouls may never have died at all but are in a perpetual state of undying, the rules vary based on the underlying 'story' so to be consistent you need to group your different strands of Undead each with a back story and then make the rules as the last step!

I played the old warhammer where all the undead were united under the command of the god-like Nagash so it seems natural to me to have them all together. I just wanted to create a bestiary with as much diversity as possible so that people could take what they like. It's up to the quest maker to use them in a way that fits a theme. I think of them as two main groups, the vampires and the liches. I wouldn't put mummies with vampires for example. I think of the vampires as the type from the poem, they're much more interesting than monstrous vamps to me.

I've added some more cool monsters, succubi, revenants, reapers and fallen angels. I've got some good pics to use for the cards. :)

Added banshees and maenads with their own unique rules. I got the maenad from true blood, they should be a lot of fun for the EWP. I've also neatened up the rules a bit including making transfix only able to target adjacent enemies.

I'm going to upload my cards for these even though they're far from finished. That way people can use the ready made pics they like and finish off the cards themselves if they want to. I'll do it when I've made a credits file to go with it.

I'll take these down when I upload the WIP cards or when I update the undead monster rules so it doesn't waste space at the inn. It will be a while before the cards are finished, I'm going to do the college spells first.
