I'm sure someone's thought of it, but was thinking of a Halfling Ranger riding a Boar, Wolf, baby ostrich or even something way more humorous like a giant chicken.

Halfling has 4 BP, 4MP. Can use a shield +1Def, maybe Leather armor +1 Def & his size might give a +1 Def when not on his mount. He can swing a Long Sword with two hands(when using a Buckler), Light Crossbow 2Att or Short Bow 1Att ×2 shots per round.

Give him three spells similar to Fairy magic, maybe a 2BP Heal spell.

The mount has 3 BP, 1 MP. 1Att plus good movement. The mount has 3BP so that the player can take 5 Damage before his self or his mount dies to keep him competitive with the Elf. Or you could just give the Halfling 5BP & his mount 2BP.

Haven't really thought this through, just felt like commenting.

In mine I have split the races up but still only kept Human, Elf and Dwarf each of which have their own pro's and con's. After that I have classes like Barbarian, Tinkerer (basically the dwarf but redone), Spellsword (basically the Elf redone) etc.
I felt that doing it that way it stayed more true to the original game and kept things fairly simple.

Wow, I forgot about this thread. LONG time ago.

Anyhow...in my material these days: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome.

Halflings are fun - they allow you to search while monsters are in sight. BUT
their weapons and armor cost more to size it properly.

Gnomes are magic users...arcane or divine/healing.

The Chicken has 3d6 to Move & might be able to jump Pit Traps at a lower difficulty & if the Halfling has a Spear, can do a 3Att lancing flying attack on one enemy per room/corridor. *Accompanied by typical Chicken sounds*

I have Halfling miniatures I was thinking of gluing onto a miniratue Ostrich or Chicken to make this an option. Ofcouse players would want to give their Mount a name like Gurtrude or Tammy.
