clmckay - got to the expansions thread, under cards - you'll find all of gimmeryergold's
skill cards. He's got quite a collection, and they offer some good abilities for heroes during
the game.

Those are cool. I'm going to try them out this weekend. Thanks for the pointer. Looking forward to see what he has in store!

If more than one Hero is carrying a spell book, each of those Heroes roll one red die: the Hero with the highest roll chooses first, the second highest next, and so on.
I think I'd do those spells randomly, or people might just pick their favourite and stick to it, and then most of them won't get used. Maybe they could have two each at some point, one they take randomly and one they choose.

But is that a problem? I would see this as a just fine way to use these cards. If you don't want to change your card, you won't.

I'm super late to this party, but I love both the Expanded Armory and especially those Library Spells! I'm definitely going to be using these and scouring the forums for more of your stuff, GimmeYerGold!

I like these Library Spell Cards a lot and I was trying to think of other ways to incorporate them into my game and came up with the idea of using Sorcerer's Tables. Here's the rules I worked out:

Spell Research
Some rooms contain a Sorcerer’s Table. If the Quest notes don’t indicate any other Treasure to be found by searching the Table, then spell casting Heroes (like the Wizard and Elf) may spend time to study the spellbook on the Table to learn a new Spell.

The Wizard Hero may forgo his next complete turn to study at the Table. The Elf must spend two turns. During this time, the Hero may not perform any other action or their concentration is broken and they must start over. Concentration is also broken if they are attacked or damaged in any way.

Once the research time is successfully completed, the Hero may draw a card from the top of the Library Spell Card deck. This spell may be used once during the course of that Quest. Once the Quest is completed, the spell is forgotten and the Hero must return the Card to the deck. Each spell casting Hero may only study once per Sorcerer’s Table.

The Library Spell Card deck should be shuffled before each Quest.

Thoughts?

I love the idea of furniture making a difference during the game... Otherwise, what's the difference between a Sorcerer's Table / Rack / Alchemist's Bench, and just a plain old table?

For my homebrew rules, I have a trait that some hero's can gain which allows them unique interactions with furniture:
Potion Crafter allows them to create a random potion (roll on a potion table) whenever they find an Alchemist's Bench,
and Spell Crafter allows them to create a random spell scroll at a Sorcerer's Table.

Concept is kind of similar to what you suggest. Great idea!

Thanks!

Also, I really like the Potion Crafter rule. Are there specific heroes you'd allow to do this? I'm thinking it should probably be only the magically inclined ones, although it'd be neat if there was a specific hero who seemed naturally more adept at potions over spells.

Usually the Alchemist is used.

I don't think I've seen stats for an alchemist hero before. Do you have any you could share? I'd be interested to see them.
