Custom EU cards [monsters]

Hello everyone!

I've been playing with my first edition Dutch HQ set, and recently did some digging in the 2nd edition rules, cards, etc, as well as the US versions and cards. I wanted to add more to my games, and found Zenithfleet's fantastic EU remastered cards.

But there were still a few things that nagged me:
- All EU cards have a banner with text on the back over the image, EXCEPT monster cards and quest treasure cards.
- Monster cards have black borders, while all others do not.
- Quest treasure items are really unique items, or artefacts. (I looked up the spelling, and I prefer artefacts)
In British English, artefact is the main spelling and artifact a minor variant. In American English, artifact is the usual spelling. Canadians prefer artifact and Australians artefact, according to their respective dictionaries. Artefact reflects Arte-fact(um), the Latin source.

That aside, I wanted to start calling the unique quest treasures "artefacts", including the additional cards Zenithfleet made. But that also meant his Scroll cards would suddenly become artefacts. So I took the Scroll cards from Flint, and used the backs from those designs, and the fronts from Zenithfleet, creating a seperate deck.
Now Zargon/Morcar can use these for quest treasures as follows:
- if he wants a certain room/chest/boss to have a specific artefact or spell scroll, he simply states it, and hands the searching hero the card.
- if he wants a certain room/chest/boss to have a random artefact, he can have a player pick a cart from the artefact deck.
- if he wants a certain room/chest/boss to have a random scroll, he can have a player pick a cart from the scroll deck.
I think this gives the DM more control over the items he wants to put in a quest as loot. If all of these were just Quest Treasure cards (with the red book backside), a hero could draw a scroll or a unique item, ranging from extremely usefull to almost useless, depending on the situation. Now you can at least choose what you want the players to find, and still keep it random.
This is especially usefull if a party loses a valuable unique item (artefact), and needs it back. Just put the item back into the artefact deck, and with some luck, they draw it in the next quest.

Here are the new backsides:

Based on the quest "the Inn of Chaos" I also made a "standard" EU Chaos Sorcerer. Comments are welcome. I just used the same stats with 1 BP.

I also made a Giant Wolf card the same way, same stats as US version, just with 1 BP. Might be changed if this turns out to be too easy.

Some cards from the Barbarian Quest pack. I've changed the Yeti Hug skill on the alternative card, because the original hug rules were WAY overpowered, but I liked the idea. Thoughts?

Does anyone have a large resolution scan of that Adventure Design Kit picture that the Chaos Sorcerer pic comes from?

I took mine from this:

The Evil mercenaries. I left out the scout's ability to find and disable traps, as the "evil" scout wouldn't use that skill. I've also left out the "price to hire". These cards are meant as monster cards for the Morcar player.
I use the regular WoM Men-at-arms cards as the friendly mercenary cards for the other players, which have the hiring price on them and not the map icons (but unfortunately also not the scout trap finding/disabling ability)

Notes:
-The WoM men-at-arms have slightly different stats. All of those have the usual 1BP, but that would make them fairly weak when used as mercenaries for the heroes. But perhaps that's how it's supposed to be, and 2BP might be overpowered.
If that's the case, I'l change all of them to 1BP, good and evil. It makes them weaker as opponents, but I've read several posts that the BQP/FH was way too difficult and unbalanced anyway.
I haven't played with mercs yet, so if anyone wants to comment on that, please do. I'm trying to find a good balance here.

-The crossbowman has an attack of 2 (2) in the EU WoM set, not 3 (2) like the US version does. 3 Might be too much, so I might also choose to use the original WoM 2 (2) attack points.

-The swordsman had 4 movement and 5 defense in WoM, while he has 5 movement and 4 defense in BQP/FH. 5 defense seems an awful lot. Thoughts?

Awesome work Sjeng. I'll have to compile these into PDF files for the Website when I have time.

I can provide you the one that's in the Marvel Winter Special if you like.

Thanks! But please wait untill all my cards are finished. I'm going to add some more, and perhaps tweak them a little if people here comment on balancing the monsters better. |_P

Some more cards for the Skaven quests:

I made two versions of the rat ogre. One from the Marvel winter special magazine, with a warhammer rat ogre image, and the other with my Into the Sewers stats, and a pic of the D&D ogre model I'm using as rat ogres.

Allright. The monster cards are finished, here's version 1.0 in 2 zip files. I included the 2 alternative backs.
If people feel some stats should be balanced/changed, please post your thoughts here, and I might change them to v2.0

enjoy!

I'm working on still more monster cards, but I need good images. Some are pretty hard to find. I need:

- a goblin archer
- an orc crossbowman
- a skeleton archer
- an image of the D&D skeleton (with the net)
- an image of the D&D lich
- a giant bat
- an image of the D&D carrion crawler - found
- an image of the D&D bugbear - found
- an image of the D&D gnoll - found
- an image of the DS manscorpion - found

And of course some stats for these monsters.

and 3 new ones:
