That answer is not only completely illogical and the thinking... let's say, cowardish (because of the differences between 100/1000 and 1000000/1000), but also the only option you cannot take as per the conditions presented by Gold Bearer.

It is the only logical answer to the problem. You have a 50/50 chance in the others possibilities, A on the other hand is at a constant.

But it is
1) not a choice as given in the instruction. You may pick either B or A and B. You may not pick A only.
2) the choice of someone who needs close to 1000 credits right now, which is not presented in the setup. The thought experiment is not about logig, but about the proportion of risk and fun.
A vast majority of us have established that the difference between 1000 and 1100 is very small, thus everyone would take the risk for the gain of 1001000 because it is so much more.

Unfortunatley, because of 1, your answer is not even valid.

1) If you do not think outside of the box you will never be good at solving problems on the go.
2) The choice is simply what box do you want/how much money do you want. And a logic test on whether or not you will take B if it has 50/50 chance of having either 100 or more in it.

Therefore using LOGIC a man would take A.

So, someone tells you you have two options.

Either you pick B.
Or you pick A and B.

Now, as a man thinking outside the box you pick A.
Everything's clear to me now.

The highly advanced behavioural prediction program would have predicted that you were an awkward so and so who would choose an unavailable option and you would nothing have been invited to take part in the first place. So there! :p

I think this would give Spock an aneurysm. You could logically argue both options and be right so the two choices are logically both better and worse than the other option.
