If you like Heroquest and Fantasy a lot, go with Zombicide Black Plague. It has a lot new Heroes useable for fantasy settings.

It also has an updated ruleset compared to the old one that corrects some minor failures. And of course, Necromancers. :redheart:

I don't like the rules of Massive Darkness so much, but I like that Zombicide crossover pack. :D

Ragnar IronFist wrote:So if I were to score a zombicide instead of jumping on this kickstarter... should I go with the first, or the black plague?

Theme aside, i.e. Modern vs Fantasy: Zombicide: Black Plague is a much smoother game. Primarily because it's pretty much a 2.0 of the Original game, but instead of calling it 2nd edition, they changed the theme. With that theme change, came a fair number of little tweaks which improve game-play in my opinion. The change to a fantasy setting, also allowed GG to add some new concepts like Magic, and also revisit equipment such as armor and shields--greatly improving them.

In general, there are a few new mechanics, but it is all recognizably Zombicide. I think that if you were to Play Z:BP first, and then go and Play any of the first three seasons of Zcide Modern, you'd likely find that the similarities outweigh their differences, but that Black Plague provides a bit better gaming experience.

That said, if you like Z:BP you'll probably like the previous games just fine as well, and if not then you likely will not dig any of them. I love them all myself.

Sweet. That's kinda what I gathered. Plus I love the dashboard concept. I think ALL games should start using dashboards!

I backed this as soon as I saw it. I missed out on the past CMON kickstarters and I felt a little bummed at this. As soon as I saw this I thought I would it would be useful for HeroQuest, and the game itself looks very interesting. Infact I have purchased the Black Plague crossover pack and I don't yet own Black Plague... It has definitely inspired me to buy it :)

Yes, the main purpose for me is, too, to have more heroes for Black Plague and some mobs for Heroquest. What i don't like are all these oversized 50mm or 70mm Monsters. I let myself be surprised, maybe later i like them. More to do for Clovis the Heroe of my Daughter. :)

I likely mentioned this previously, however... I fully intend to convert most of these critters over to Z:BP, and then work on a "Combined" game system that will allow for more flexible RPG-lite game-play in the Zombicide universe. Of course, if I still had all of my HQ stuff, I'd probably go that route instead.

Now, all of that said, I think, that once I have converted the MD monsters --> Z:BP, I may look at writing a "Quest" based on one of the original HQ quests, but using the MD tiles and the Z:BP ruleset. We'll see!

As to all of the over-sized Roaming Monsters from MD, I think that they will make some pretty epic boss monsters. The sculpts are all over the place, from really cool to "What were they thinking" (I'm looking at you MD Elementals and Dwarves), but over all I think that they will all be pretty cool. And, with a few exceptions, most of the Roamers are not as over the top as the Z:BP Abominatroll, which is just plain ridiculous. Again, it'll be a year before I can really know how I feel about them once their in my hands, but overall I am optimistic.

I back just about everything CMoN throws at us. Usually I pledge for 2 boxes, and sell one with major profit to finance a big chunk of my copy. People pay crazy amounts for their exclusives.
So far, I got:
- Rum & Bones Season 1 (secondhand at KS price) plus a few exclusives (KS price, bought 2 each, sold doubles for double).
- Rum & Bones Season 2 (backed 2 copies)
- Arcadia Quest Season 1 (secondhand at KS price. I know, oh, my Goddess, lucky me!)
- Arcadia Quest Season 2 (backed 3 copies)
- Zombicide Season 2 + 3 (got the S1 box along with S2), double backed both, sold for profit.
- Zombicide Black Plague (backed 2 copies)
- The Others: 7 Sins (backed 2 copies)
- Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia (backed 2 copies)

Also backed some other projects I liked, but just 1 copy for myself. I've noticed it's not worthwhile selling games from other companies than CMoN. Except Dark Souls: Got 3 copies of that baby. Oh and Conan, also 2 King pledges, if that ever arrives...

As long as I can sell enough to keep the price low, I can keep on doing it :D until the day comes that people aren't interested anymore and the market is oversaturated.

@Sjeng,

So folks are buying base games after the games hit retail? Exclusives I understand, but base games? Or is most of your profit coming from the Exclusives?

Yeah, they want all the stretch goal freebies and the exclusives mostly. So I sell a pledge level as a package deal. Base game @ normal retail price + a fair price for the rest. Usually there's so much swag, you can easily charge double.

A copy of Arcadia Quest, Guilmaster pledge, will net you $500 or more nowadays. I was lucky enough to find one at cost, as I did not back it in KS, which was a stupid decision looking back. If I knew, I'd have backed that one 5 times xD
