I don't think there's a viewer magnet in a character. You underestimate the plot, methinks.
I mean Tyrion is not Rick Grimes.

They did that to give you hope that he's not gonna be the one who's killed by Negan. Know what happens to hope in TWD?
They'll take it away. Glenn is gonna be one of the people Negan kills.

GRRM has mentioned he is not above killing off main characters in GoT.

I also read somewhere he said that there were some people that had guessed where he was going with the book series, but he wont change it because it would make less sense.

Now the only real gripe I have with the TV show is the whole Sansa Stark and Ramsay Bolton thing. Sansas friend was identified as Sansa and was married to Ramsay.

Sansa and Theon escaped and met Stannis in the wintery conditions. Stannis may very well die in the books, but they arent up to that part.

And GRRM said he was happy for the TV show to go wherever and not stay totally true to the books.

Oh, the other substantial difference that is fun is Tyrion and the Bear meeting with Daenerys Targaryen hasnt happened. And it wasnt Mormont that got cursed with the Greyscale in the books, it was the guy guarding the prince on his way to see Daenerys.

I'll be waiting for the DVD set to be published next year because I avoid German translation and dubbing of anything.
Unbearable *lemony goodness* going on in that sector of entertainment for decades...

It really is stupid! Everything there is dubbed. EVERYTHING! We have way better system, only kids shows have Finnish dub and everything else have Finnish subtitles and original audio.

Yes, everything is translated. But the "HOW" is what makes it really ludicrous:

Bend it like Beckham got translated to Kick it like Beckham because, you know, we all speak a little English...
Accents and dialects are never conveyed (through German accents and dialects, for example).
Jokes, especially pop-culture references never survive translation and dubbing.
Everything is spoken in High German, like in non-regional drama (plus, German actors and voice actors overact as a default rule).
There are 5 or 6 voice actors of both genders that you seem to hear in everything (TV series and movies both), two or three of them sounding either completely nerdily ludicrous and the others overacting like they are dubbing anime.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier got translated to Captain America: Return of the First Avenger.
There's two or three harmless phrases in the catalogue for anything resembling cussing or swearing. "Pissnelke" ("pissing clove" - yes, that's right, pissing clove) was invented somewhere in the '80s to not have to translate something like *mother hugger*. "Schei├če" is common because it's very common in everyday speech and considered very harmless.
Grammar is always correct, even if it's not in the original because else our kids will not learn proper grammar... (think about that for a minute!).

I could go on and on about this.
German translation and dubbing is full of conformism and false educational pretenses that are completely beside the purpose and goal of translating something in the first place.
These people are so full of themselves and their methods and modes of operation and catalogues that it's not even funny.
