I am about 60 pages into the Forgotten Realms novel Depths of Madness by Eric Scott de Bie.
So far, it is quite good.

Sounds interesting. Is it worth reading?

Objectively, yes.

Subjectively, I'd recomend it in general.

There is a sub-plot involving rape. It is tasteful (the book is from the 1950's), and plot relevent, but could upset some, for obvious reasons.

That aside, it's a book that laid the foundations of both New Wave and Cyberpunk.

Just read the five books of The Expanse.
Waiting for the sixth now.

Good science fiction. No Laser Weapons, hyper drive or other weird stuff. Instead, solid action and a good Storyline by two authors in corporation.

The later books split the Storyline in three different strings, which makes the story progression quite slow aND the books long, nearly as slow as game of thrones . That's about the only negative point I have.

Do I recommend it? Well, I am Peter F. Hamilton infected. Once you've got that particular infection, other SciFi looks dull in comparison. If you're not yet Peter F. Hamilton infected, I can recommend the expanse.

Word has it that the SciFi Channel now makes a series from it. That might be interesting!

Peter F. Hamilton....that's a name I haven't heard in years. I suppose he's still writing though. Some of his older works made me feel like I'd inadvertently inhaled a package worth of black magic markers.

The Expanse TV series is goodish. Seems to have a much better handle on hard science than other Sci-Fi shows. 'course I'm a B5 fan, so there could be something wrong with me.

I'm reading The Ball is Round, a tome on the history of football. Football. Not American Football. Because in, you know, American Football... the ball. Isn't... round. Well, that would have explained itself, wouldn't it?
Along with that, Monstrous Regiment, beginning the golden age of Terry Pratchett.
Also, D&D Monster Manuals and other sourcebooks from various games as inspiration for painting and other stuff.
Ordered the first Compendium of The Walking Dead comic book. That's 48 issues in a hardcover for a mere 30 Eurones. I'm really looking forward to delve into that one.

The expanse actually made it into a tv show now. One Book --> one Season.

I read Neil Asher's Transformation trilogy right now, which is part of his polity setting. Good stuff, yes it is. Even has some nuggets to to think about inside, like real literature - however, i don't.

Nice threadomancy. I literally just finished Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Tales series last night. The Flame Bearer final book. The whole series is so good I could hardly stop.

Now I will pick-up where I left off in Sword and Honor. A collection of unique battle scenes from different historical fiction writers.

It's not the last book though, is it? It's the latest that's available. There's another untitled book coming around October this year. Have you seen the show? There's two seasons so far covering the first four books.

I am hoping it continues but the way he ended it...it could go on or stop. Have not heard about more but I am definitely not on top of it. I know of the show but never seen it. Would have to youtube it and my internet is kind of slow. Always worry about watching shows or movies based on books I like as there's usually discrepancy with what's already in my imagination. Already thought about trying to some time.
