I'm not confident enough to actually paint anything, so I've decided to keep everything one color as in the original base game, but I'm painting my newer minis to match. So the DragonStrike goblins, which are Hobgoblins in my game, are getting painted Orc/Goblin Green, the DragonStrike Death Knights are getting painted Undead White, and one of each of the player figures are getting painted Hero Red. I've also go to rebase my Skaven onto some Zealot bases to match the HQ style and I'll be painting them brown.

I'll use that for Rat Ogres, Grey Seers, Giant Rats, and Rat Swarms as well (when I buy some). But in gerenatl, I like that we've got the same idea of giving new monsters colors by groups to keep with the original coloring since, much like yourself, I don't consider myself an artist of enough caliber to feel good about fully painting them.
