So I picked up a copy (definitely EU!). It was so expensive I had to sell my plate mail to afford it, but looks like a fun time. It's more than I expected... lots of classic artwork, a choose your own adventure and some short stories. The other books feature a solo quest and a handy "loosely based" Warhammer style map. Nifty. I like to make up my own stuff, but I also like the idea of past precedent stuff to look to for inspiration.
Like on the back of the "Return of the Witch Lord" box it actually says that the Witch Lord has a "mutant army" (don't they mean an "Undead army?") but that fits perfectly with my de-magicified campaign that has chaos mutants instead of skeletons, for example.
I guess Avalon hill must have been thinking something similar when they noticed Chaos Warriors were also referred to as "dread warriors" in the game system quest book monster appendix.
Anyway, the plot outline of this book sounds like the Japanese game system. I wonder if there is a connection (they were released the same year). I wonder if Grimdead the chaos god is similar to this Kyrax demon.
