Broadsword, now available

Postby Teldurn » May 24th, 2018, 11:17 pm

Hello everyone!

It's been a long journey over the past year or two, but here we are. At long last, all the hard work and stressing and triple checking has paid off. Broadsword is finally available to the public! The game is broken into four components: Rulebook, Quest Book, Just the Cards, and Extras. The first two are self-explanatory.

Just the Cards is for those who prefer having physical cards in their hands while they play. The descriptions of all 200+ cards are already included in the Rulebook, but Just the Cards give you the option to have it be Print-on-Demand.

Extras includes all the peripheral components of the game - character sheet, tokens, overlays, one free Quest map, and more.

I know a lot of you like to have physical dice to roll when playing. The print-at-home die template included in Extras probably isn't going to cut it for most of you. DriveThru doesn't have the mechanisms in place to offer physical dice through their site. But I do. If you want a set of dice (or more) email me - bloodyeyegamesinc [at] gmail [dot] com - with the subject "BROADSWORD DICE" for details.

I'll see your request for gameplay pics, and raise you an actual play video

Some stills from it, to give a quick example of gameplay pics. Sorry for the potato quality. My crappy bandwidth prevents me from uploading or recording at any higher than 480p.

Nice Conquering Despair tower--very forboding! Your art investment should pay off.

Thanks, Daedalus! I feel like it is definitely paying for itself, that's for sure.

My complaints I have come across are:

1. The fan made items like monsters were not used in the quest book.
2. There wasn't an option to get the tiles printed.

The Quest Book was written way before the monsters or items were created.

2. There wasn't an option to get the tiles printed.

You aren't the first person to comment on the tiles. I'm currently in the process of seeing about a solution for printable tiles.

I understand it was complete. Hope the next pack includes them.

A tile solution would be great.

Also, for future quest packs if you use totally new tiles (making people keep buying more) it will turn off a lot of people.

While I doubt there will be new monsters introduced in the future, realistically speaking, it's kind of impossible to put out future supplements with new races and new classes without introducing new tokens to go along with it. That said, it is possible that I would use new tilesets for future quests and such. But I also want to recycle some of the tiles that were already used, but in different arrangements.

The thing is, the game exists in this weird grey area between board game and tabletop game, and I think I'm the only person to have made a game in this space. If one so chooses, one could run the game solely on VTT. Or, to run the game on a gridded mat with dry erase markers, using minis they have collected over the years - or go old school and use pennies and buttons for tokens - and everyone writes down their spells used and whatnot on character sheets or sheets of blank paper. It's possible to play 100% offline, but obviously it'll be costlier merely for the price of getting things printed and shipped. I just love that everyone can play on whatever platform serves them best, it's flexible that way.
