Look at this. Les Edwards was giving a comment. Also there are scans of his first drawings that later turned into box art.

There are three great images. I give you one as preview, just follow the link!

Fanrax looks strangely serene in that pic. I'm glad we got the more psychotic looking version of him on the finished version.

I really like the different version for the original box art, its great to see the Gargoyle as part of the monster menagerie.

While the other three are just opportunistically evil, Fanrax is the real sociopath. :ugeek:

and in the game box sketch you can see 3 figures from Warhammer: Wizard with serpent staff, Azoth the Faceless and Slambo the Chaos Warrior with 2 axes.

Nice catch lestodante! I've got Azoth the Faceless and Slambo in the queue to paint here... but ever seem to get around to it. I don't have the Wizard figure you're showing though... will have to keep an eye out for him on eBay!!

by the way - Anyone know the code for the Wizard figure or what set it was in? I'm looking through the old citadel range from the mid 80s on but haven't found it yet...

He's a C02 Wizard - Young Wizard.

Nice collection!! Is that an original Slambo? Some of the features look a little softened compared to the re-released metal one I picked up a couple of years back... That C02 Young Wizard model doesn't seem to be trivial to find either!!

Yes, he's the original Slambo... but seems to be a predecessor too, a preslotta chaos warrioir holding 2 axes too but his name is different. I am not a fan of the new generation miniatures, I only like the old school with some exceptions (Boris stuff for example).
And... yes, many of the C02 Wizards are quite rare to find. In particular that wizard has a very weak staff, so it is even more hard to find one unbroken.
