Sadly, the closest I have been to Australia, is reading a Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon wine label, celebrated as being amongst the best of Australian reds. My Dad did spend some time there, between the Wars. He wrote a piece for the National Geographical magazine, entitled “With Rod and Gun Along the Darling River”.

Exactly!... but thanks to crisis you can still buy a house in Greece with 100.000 euro near the beach, though the petrol cost 2 euro per lt... nvm

After many ogre warriors and champions I’ve died from a wandering Orc...... I had 3 Body and 2 Defense and he scores 3 sculls while I roll no shields!!! This cost me the 1/3 of my gold but I successfully save all my potions from breaking (by rolling no sculls in one dice for each potion... it’s a house rule), and this is something... But I am satisfied overall with my play and our two quests we’ve played, so it's no problem...

That was me that slaughtered his wizard. He was pretty unlucky but that's crazy dice rolls for you. by the way, that was Patroclus' first death in 12 quests , for a wizard with only 4 body points that's quite an achievement, given the fact that in 24 quests (2 groups that have played 12 each) there were 10 deaths recorded so far.

Sounds like a bottle from Penfold's. We do have some very good drops but while Coonawarra can be good, there are a lot better. Sometimes I think we export Wolf Blass, Jacob's Creek and some Penfold's for the same reason we export Foster's. We've seen prices on some of those while overseas and cringe. I'd hate to see what something from Tyrrell's, Rockford's or Henschke would go for (actually, I'd be surprised if you could find them outside of specialised wine merchants) and they produce genuinely good stuff.

The secret to be a good wizard is to weight your chances and don’t get exposed to enemy attacks for no reason while you must try to be a valuable comrade for the party. This is a challenge by itself. Diagonal attacks, last hits, crowd control and a sack of potions (you don’t have many ways to spend your money) are your best friends. My suggestion? Use all your spells in each quest. Every spell can be valuable. Or create some new spells with your GM trying to not get them overpowered. in my opinion, wizard is the best class in HQ (for sure, the most interesting, except if the others have also one or two extra custom skills (for example 3 tokens of a special ability or whatever) which is highly recommended).

Exactly. I also beefed up the Wizard (Guild Wizard OR Elementalist OR Shaman OR Psychomancer [still don't know how to call this one in English]).
During the 14 game system quests he can max out at 2 attack (incl. diagonal) and 4 defend plus 1 attack ranged, afterwards there are better weapons (defend rises) for him.
He gets 12 spells (including new ones) at the beginning of each quests.

Really, the key - as Patroclus said - is USE YOUR FRICKING SPELLS! Don't save them up.

The result of an experienced player - same tactics as Patroclus - playing the Wizard and me evil prick playing the Evil Wizard player over 14 game system quests:
Dwarfs died twice, Barbarian and Wizard three times each, Elf four times.

No considerable disadvatage there for the Wizard.

Sadly, I have to buy down to a price these days. Usually limit myself to £5 GBP, but can still get the occasional Bin End bargain.

WOW ... remind me to not upset your wizard ;)
That is a pretty good run you had there Patroclus. A rather intriguing house rule there too, but sounds like it comes in very handy.
If one of the characters got killed when we used to play, the others would divide the possessions and hand them over to the new character at the end of the level, well.... most of the time :? . Every now and then the monsters would win (dang search and wandering monster cards :bites-lip: ) .

  ummmmm sounds like the blood god is lurking in your quest book there Tasoe :? maybe they should make some sacrificial :cookie: to appease the blood thirsty one
But I do agree with the fact that the ole wizard can be beefed up quite well. And yes, don't be afraid of using your spells AND potions. There will always be more potions to find and occasionally the odd "Potions and Elixirs" store will pop up if things are really drastic ;) .
Another quirky lil house rule we used to use was if anyone went (generally) 3 turns of no combat or searching they could regen 1 BP. If they tried to dodge a couple more turns then 'amazingly'( ;) ) a random monster would pop into being right beside them  .

Well, this happens in our quests too, except when you die, all potions you carry have a 50% of breaking. Scrolls remain unharmed. I actually don't have the heroes carry equipment (except the occasional magical dagger) and any gold earned isn't up for grabs, it just stays with the character when he re-enters in the next quest. Oh, 1/3 of the gold gets taken away when you die. Of course I don't allow any monkey business of the sort "I'm about to die so I give all my gold to the elf and he'll give it back to me on the next quest".
I'll explain things a little better in the thread I opened for my quest, mainly to get feedback on some new spells etc, although they are tested and seem really balanced.
