Stumbled upon this site - happy accident!

Postby Frozen88 » Tuesday February 12th, 2013 4:37pm

I grew up playing HeroQuest with my brother. It was the type of game that we could just sit and play for hours and lose all track of time. But as we got older we boxed it and put it away. Recently I started playing warmachine/hordes at a local shop and some guys were playing 40k. The chaos space marines made me think of HQ so I went home to dig it out of my parents basement.....sad to say the box was destroyed and a few small pieces were lost from the base set and the expansions I had (barbarian and witch lord) were both lost or discarded by my parents cleaning. However I have slowly begun to rebuild and have even gotten an HQ night going at the shop! I am here to learn things I may have missed, get great ideas for future games, and possibly pick up a piece or two via trade or purchase and maybe an empty box if anyone happens to have a spare.
That's a brief bit of me and HQ if you guys have anything else you'd like to know or trades or whatever just post me here or pm I'm always up for good conversation or trades :)

Do people watch and ask about it? so cool , I took my game to a place and set it up but nobody even asked about it or anything. I set up all the stuff layed out all the monster Cards the screen the heros and nothing, and there were probably 50 people there so i bought a beholder d&d bumper sticker that read "Beholder on board" and a grape pop and sat there for about 2 hours. thanks for Joining !

I've thought about bringing HQ to a game store, but I'm afraid people would ask under their breath "dude, what's up with that old guy and the kiddie game?" Thankfully, I have a friend who comes over with his kids to play HQ with me and my kids, so we now have an inter-generational gaming group. It's a lot of fun |_P

Frozen88, what pieces are you missing besides the box?

Well, it's pretty bad when game store geeks think you're a geek. That's a whole new level of geek-dom that I'm not ready to experience. It's bad enough that I play ukulele in public.

For me it really wasn't hard at all to take my copy of HQ into my local shop - my best friend actually purchased the shop a few years back! I first took it in just to show and play a round with him, however when I did another guy got really excited - apparently he was a closet quester! Now we play regularly but it's mostly a small group of 2-5 regulars but several kids from the high school play to including several foreign exchange students (for whom I actually picked up foreign variant cards when I could) - it adds some flavor lol.
Some people stare at us and think its dumb but I'm too old to care and I really enjoy my level of nerdiness! :)

Also - does anyone have any extra red dice or pieces from the barbarian quest that they would sell? I really want a polar warbear :)
