drathe returns Infrequent Elf's friendly greeting, "Hello!", then stands puzzled as Infrequent Elf scratches his head and suddenly wanders off.

Hello Everyone,
I just found this site after looking around for some Heroquest info. Recently a friend of mine invited me and my wife to play Nightmare, the old VHS board game. (Remember that one?) Well this bit of nostalgia got me to remembering my old Heroquest board game. So I hit google and here I am. I have a few questions for you all so I won't keep you all any longer. But let me just say that the site ROCKS! with all of the info on there.

Hi everybody.
It was 1990 when my bro got as birthday present the Hero Quest game. I was 12 and he was 8. I can still remember how excited we were, when we started setting up the game. All those figures and scenery. It was absolutely awesome! I was a newfound Conan fan then so you can all assume wich was my favorite character. Barbarian all the way!! We played alot for the following 2-3 years (wich equals with 2-3 centuries in childhood timing), but then we stopped. Teenagers have other worries than board games. The game was stored by our mother (wich is rather talented in making things disappear), and everytime we were talking about setting a game, we knew we had to really search in to the depths of our storage room, so we forgot about it.

Few months ago, a leak forced our parents to empty the storage room. So when i passed by the heaps of long lost stuff, guess what was there in a bag. A Greek Hero Quest main game + Dragon Game System (Dark World) in great condition. Actually DGS is in mint condition almost. HQ had 3 figures missing and the barbarian sword broken :( . We wanted to play so badly, so i started checking around for anyone selling minis and stuff. I never believed that there were so many people still involved in that discontinued game. I though that just me, bro and some friends were nostalgic about it. But i was wrong. People all over the world were fanatic about it. I realised also for the first time that there were so many expansions. You see in Greece we only got the main game, Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord. The rest european expansion were never translated. Propably the previous expansions didnt sell enough, wich is logical since they costed almost the same price with the main(huge) game. Even i then considered it a rip off.

I cant thank enough everybody involved in this site's goodies. You gave me the chance not only to get that missing parts of the game, but also to get great ideas for the game. Right now i got 2 more copies of the game via ebay and setting up the expansions too. We have great time with our company playing the game. Its kinda funny to see a big table with guys in their 30's, listening usually Conan the Barbarian OST and other epic stuff, drinking, smoking and shout in joy or despair according to the dice throw over HQ.

Welcome! ...and awesome story!

I was unaware that there were both of the first pair of expansions were released in Greece. I heard from a couple fans over (who've supplied the Greek resources we have at present) that only one expansion was released. Now I can go ahead and make a Greek Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord page so fans can send in their scans and others can download them. Would you happen to be able to scan any of our missing Greek content? It's always appreciated.

I hope you enjoy your stay here at Ye Olde Inn. Feel free to read through the threads and even dig up some old ones and begin new discussions on them. There's lots here, and lots of plans for the future so keep coming back for more!

Thanks drathe!
I have a full main game in Greek in great condition except the Barbarian character card wich is torned and glued back (whats going on with this guy? Always crippled) and the quest book/manual wich they are overused. The good thing is that the cards are all in great condition. My scanner was killed in action recently and i need to get a new one soon. I think that i ll be able to enrich your collection with the Greek cards (wow exotic isnt it? ). I also slowly translate in Greek and adapt the american system cards to the european one. That means i have to break down your files in photoshop, put greek text and titles, set everything up in indesign and creat pdf files for high quality print. Soon as i get those done i will be happy to share with you all. Althought it will sound Greek to you  (just had to say it).

Thanks Idomeneas! That would be great!

Luckily, I already have some pretty good scans of most of the Greek system. All I require from the system now is the Character Sheet and any advertisement for the expansions that may have been included. I also don't have a clear picture of the back of the box so I can type up the info on the Greek Page. Other than that, it's all Kellar's Keep and Return of the Witch Lord. I don't have a single scan of anything for the expansions.

If you like, you can use any of the card templates and image packs from the Design Tools page to make your cards in Photoshop. If you save each card separately and email them to me, I can compile them into PDF files like the ones already available here at Ye Olde Inn. The templates are all in North American style though. I do have a European Basic card template that I made that's not on the site. Let me know if you'd like it and I'll send it to you. I don't have any image packs available that fit the European template unfortunately. I never got around to doing that. So much stuff I still have to do in the mean time. If you need anything else for your cards, just ask, I'll try to provide what ever I can! Let us know how your work goes here in the forum so we can all be excitedly up-to-date.

Wow, those Chaos Spells look fantastic in Greek! Excellent Job!

I'm going to split this topic from the Guest Book and move it to the card section as it's now become it's own topic.
