I feel the same way about the monsters - which is why chaos dwarfs and kobolds rank pretty high on my list.

you have good taste and I couldn't agree more

So I was thinking that there could be some kind of final boss for HeroQuest. Something like a Bloodthirster or the Great Unclean One--maybe perhaps the Evil Wizard himself...

I like the idea of bringing the Evil Wizard onto the board.

The Evil Wizard would likely only be damaged with a specific artifact - probably that has been broken into several pieces that need to be found throughout previous quests. And then forged together in another quest.

I disagree with the idea of Morcar being an actual opponent. Not because he would be the final end-all to
chaos - we know that would not be true - there would be others to follow.
I disagree because he would be much to powerful, if created properly. Anyone read forgotten realms?
It would be like fighting against Elminster. Or Dragonlance...Raistlin. Star Wars...The emperor x darth vader x 10.

Just my opinion, of course, but that is certainly how I would design that character if I were to make it. That's the only
way an evil wizard would be able to control so many chaotic creatures and force them to bend to his will.

Raistlin Majere was a 20th level human wizard. Elomonster was a 30th level fighter/mage/thief. They gave them stats so you could kill them.

That said, I don't think the Evil Wizard should be tangible. I think you should collect artifacts that, when combined, do something to something in a something fashion, sometimes.

Well, this could actually be the "end" of Morcar, since he is an old man already.

A final big boss fight is almost obligatory!
I do however oppose to fielding Morcar as a killable boss.

He has been built up too much through all the expansions. in my opinion killing him would just be anticlimatic.
Besides I see him more as an incorporal essence of evil, not as much as an actual person.
I know he is a person in the context of the texts. But in the context of the game he is simply the 5th player.

Morcar's apprentice however...

If we kill Morcar what will be next?
When our children try to design the 50th anniversary pack, by whom will be led all these tiny monsters?
Put a dragon with 30 body points but not Morcar..

Maybe Morcar could put all his magic into some horrible *fraggle*-off-huge monster, so that when you kill it, he loses all his powers.
