If I manage to get a laser printer, what type of cardstock do I use to print out cardboard tiles and what kind do I use for homemade cards?

I used Avery non-gloss sticky paper and stuck them on medium thick construction paper. If you print directly on the construction paper, it might bleed and become blurry cause that construction paper will soak all the ink up. I chose non-gloss because I like the rooms to have a little more grip in case you knock the board. Probably be cheaper to have a professional print the cards off. You can get a pack of 52 for 8 bucks US.

Make sure when you go to print, you use your printer's maximum quality settings on. Have your DPI at 300 too. If I had to do over though, I would probably go with semi-gloss sticky paper and a little thicker construction paper.

I've used the Avery sticky paper, and the ink runs if it gets wet. I know this because one of my kids will spit when he talks due to a lost tooth. I'm not sure what type of printer I have though, it is the cheaper of the jet/laser types, so it might be fine for the more expensive type.

For tiles, check out Making your own game tiles. at Board index ‹ HeroQuest Rooms ‹ HeroQuest Additions ‹ Tiles.

For cards, a good start is Indomenias' Card Printing stickied topic at Board index ‹ HeroQuest Rooms ‹ HeroQuest Additions ‹ Cards. Check other topics there or try an advanced search at the window located at the top -right of your screen.
