where to find weapons

Postby cynthialee » May 12th, 2015, 11:40 am

I just picked up a large lot of someone's fantasy RPG miniatures. Most are 28 mm.

I need weapon replacements for a number of them and I am getting tired of turning paperclips into lances or staves...Also not all the mini's would look right wielding a staff.

All I can find online that even comes close to my need is Warhammer weapon arms. Just the thing is...I don't want an arm, I just want the weapons.

So maybe I am not looking right, perhaps my search terms blow goat..?

Any help guys?

Zealot has some, and if memory serves me right, there are other companies who offer weapons. Try to look for "conversion (parts)" or "weapons sprue".
I think the reason that this is relatively rare is that many gamers have lots of spare bits - like the Warhammer weapon arms - from wich the weapons are normally easily cut off for re-use.
Have a look ;)

The problem is in the keywords when searching. Just type in every type of weapon plus shield in your search bar, singular and plural for each, and then narrow the categories down.
You can also easily cut away and file down hands on weapons. With Warhammer bits, there is at least the diversity you want. Searching for anything else doesn't make all that much sense, to be honest.

Maybe you take a look at that. They have several sprues like that; but the weapons are somewhat smaller than HQ versions.

Thank you guys.
I found a number of likely acceptable possibilities.

One thing that sticks in my craw...If I wanted to arm my mini's with blasters and rifles, no problem. Finding melee weaponry? Not so easy. Considering how many mini's get weapons broken over time you'd think that it would be an easier thing to find.
I am foreseeing poleaxes for a number of my Dwarves missing weapons. :D

Thank you again for the idea to look for 'conversion parts' lead me to seeing a listing that said 'conversion bits' for a sprue full of blasters, so I thought maybe I can find other weapons with that search term.

I now have two packages of weapons. One a pack of general melee weapons and the other a pack of halberds and spears. it is going to take some time as I have over 120 mini's I need to deal with and about 15-20 that need repairs. Long term projects are fun.

I recall Heresy having a nice selection.

Some Warhammer bits sites also nmay suffice, but they can get pricey!

The sale said 18 weapons on the listing. When I opened up the pack and counted there were over 28 weapons. Score!

Games Workshop used to have something called "Mordheim Bits", which was a sprue of weapons, equipment, other miscellaneous things, and even parts for a treasure chest.
If I want spears for a weapons rack, I just use the weapon arms from orcs, goblins, skeletons, whatever, then chop the arm off at the wrist and file/sand the rest away until just the pole remains.
