Anyone got any good suggestions on how to transfer a logo from my pc to a flat piece of wood?
I seem to recall seeing some HQ logos on custom boxes, but not the exact methods...

I used a sticker… but this thread http://forum.yeoldeinn.com/viewtopic.php?f=58&t=523&p=3898&hilit=chest+wood#p3898 shows how to trace it from a print out using a ball point pen. Then you can carve it out, or burn it, or hit it with different stains, etc. And he links to Ethica's thread which was his inspiration. What it the project? Start a thread with the concept please!

Well, I'm in the early stages of planning a box for my Card Wars (think magic cards).
I want the logo on the lid which is the biggest problem. I also need to decide how to do the lid itself... Which type?

I've never tried it but I remember seeing that in my mailbox a while back. There was another method I saw online but it was way more complicated and it looked harder. I have never tried it myself though so I can't attest to how well it works.

Card Wars (similar to Magic?) - I'm intrigued. So, what's it about?

Well, it's a ccg/tcg based on the Adventure Time episode by the same name.
It's important to note that it's a game within the series, so Finn and Jake won't be on the cards, but rather fictional characters within the fiction.
(an expansion let's you play AS the Adventure Time characters which grants a small special rule depending on which character you choose)

You and your opponent each have four opposing lanes and a deck of cards.
Each lane is represented by a type of landscape which also dictates which cards you can play. If you only have Cornfields you can only play cornfield type cards (and rainbow/multicolor cards).
But if you have only 1 cornfield you can only play cornfield cards with a value of 1.

Basically you play creature cards to defend and attack in each lane. opposing creatures does damage to each other simultaneously.
If a creature attacks an undefended lane the "player" takes the damage instead. Reducing the opponent from 25 HP to zero is the object of the game.
In addition to creatures you have permanent buildings that grants an effect to the lane they've been played on and you have your one-use spells.

And that's basically it. There's enough strategy to not be random, and both the rules and the cards are simple enough to play with non-geeks like girlfriends and family.
I played it with my brother who hates fun and he just couldn't stop playing! :D

Not relevant to the original topic, sorry, but I just want to chime in and second that Card Wars is a lot of fun and a great way to introduce folks to collectible card games. My girlfriend picked it up because she liked the Card Wars phone app game (and we're both pretty big Adventure Time fans) and after we went through the instructions, I said, "Oh, it's just a simplified Magic: The Gathering." Then, after playing Card Wars for a couple weeks, the girlfriend hits me with,"I think I'd like to try Magic." :D
