Postby mako-heart » November 3rd, 2013, 4:31 pm

Hello Ye Olde friends,

I'm in the process of putting some pewter Minis onto some Outworld bases and i'm wondering in anyone has any advice how to cut the pewter base off without trashing the mini. Any tips would be a huge help thanks. ;)

I use a razor saw with 52 TPI (teeth per inch) bought off the internet. I'm pretty certain it's of below average quality but it makes pretty clear cuts, only a tiny amount of model gets lost between the cuts. If you are careful you can do a very accurate job.

Ok so sawing instead of choping or cliping. And fastening it onto the base? Just super glue or is the re a specific type of adhesive for plastic to pewter you guys would recomend? Thanks for the insight

you could go with just super glue. but me personally because of the weight of the mini i would drill into the heels and pin the mini into the base, then superglue it for extra strength

52 tpi that's just a hacksaw blade then I'm guessing? I have tryied drilling holes before and I'm just tonervous to drill into the pewter without wandering all over it and if I did drill into it what diameter hole is adeaquate for a "pin"?

drilling is fine. make sure you score a drill point with something to stop any straying.
i use 2 dril bit types. but i would say 1mm thickness is perfectly fine (as drawing pins can be used as pins for this. and this also seems to be a pretty standard size.

like graphite mechanical pencil? i'm not following you on drawing pins...What is that? But all advice sounds very legit so far so, thanks for the insight! ;)
