I like the macro concept, such as having the region map to get the party looking for the runes to enter the dungeon. I think that falls into the epic category, however there are so many mini games played from the town (Gladiatorial combats, push your luck dice stuff, mini dungeons, etc), on top of the massive dungeon crawl, that I feel one would need a very solid and regular playing group to get anything done. That or enormous amounts of time on everyone's part.

In High School, my gaming group would have eaten it up for a good six months. My current gaming group would think it was awesome in scope but we'd never be able to "Finish a game"... Still, while I did not back completely, I'll throw the guy a couple bucks to show support.

it's gonna be redone later, which is a good idea :P
Very interesting to see what it will turn out to be.

Yeah, definitely in favor of the relaunch for Dungeon Crusade.

I REALLY wanted to keep my backing for Darklight, it looks amazing, but had to drop it for financial reasons...*Sigh*... If it makes it to retail however, I may grab it then.

I really can't imagine that all those games make it for retail. Maybe in a specialist shop "overfunded kickstarters " :D

Exactly my opinion as well. However, in the case of Darklight, it is clearly a game that is well polished with professional production quality (apparently). From day one, these folks have been quite conservative about what can be done with what amount of funding they receive, carefully avoiding making claims or promises that would be unrealistic. This gives me some confidence in thinking that if published as expected, there is a chance that a larger publisher "Could" pick up the game. Should that happen I can see this truly going retail, and in such a case I would be tempted to grab it.

if I recall correctly, the devs have mentioned wanting to see it go to retail eventually (who wouldn't of course), and they seem to have run a pretty smart campaign with realistic expectations and goals. So *IF* they are shooting for a retail version of the game, I'm guessing they have a reasonable plan... We'll see.

Still hate that I had to drop my pledge. Unexpected RL trumps gaming collection priority...*Chuckle*...

Here's a couple I've discovered recently:

Dungeon Explorers 28mm Miniatures
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/19 ... ers-and-r/
A small, new-ish miniatures company is expanding, and I think these look pretty good! I'm not a big fan of the snouts on the orcs, but I'm considering getting the heroes.

The Depths of Durangrar
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/18 ... in-the-da/
This one is ...an interesting concept. A dungeon crawler that you literally play in the dark. The GM has night-vision goggles and the heroes' minis have LED lights on them. Hoo boy. It's certainly an interesting idea, but sounds like it could be a big pain in the ass in practice. What happens when someone gets up for a beer? You gotta stumble to the fridge in the dark; if you turn on a light, the game is ruined.

Not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but 4/5 Brit Quid for a miniature of that level of detail?
I could literally knead that from green stuff alone. I don't think they look any good and the price tag makes it worse.
Seems harshly overpriced. You can get a highly detailed DarkSword mini for a little more.

Nice finds Lucas.

As to the first, I am not a Metal minis collector anymore, so any project that uses them probably will not get my money. However, I think they look pretty cool actually, and they could be a quite useful (if pricey), addition to someone's collection. If you do back it, please post pics comparing them to standard HQ or similar minis? I also took a look at their website and have to say that their existing mins are pretty cool too--that is for a Victorian era setting or similar "Lost World" or "Weird West" theme.

I had to take a long look over the Durangrar game when I first saw it hit KS. The geek in me was pretty much "Wow, how cool is that" and was immediately admonished by the not-fun practical adult that went "Okay, how many gimmicks can be thrown at a single game in a go"...*Chuckle*... This time the geek in me did not win.

Though the dice look pretty cool... Heh

I really do appreciate the concept, and also the amount of work that must have gone into developing an affordable set of solutions for the project's many practical challenges. Unfortunately my biggest beef with the game is the minis. Whether any given game's cool miniatures ever get used in another game aside, I like the option. So when a game deliberately produces miniatures that are ONLY functional (without modding heavily), within the context of it's own system, I am leery. In this case, it's tempered by the awareness that whole concept of the game requires that the minis carry colored flashlights. So to speak.

Add to this the reliance on being able to provide an absolute dark, and safe, gaming space to the gimmicky, if cool, other components in the game, I have to ask myself how often this game would actually hit the table.

And believe me I hate trouncing this particular project, because clearly this is an idea that the devs had to really work hard on to come up with. And it's not a big board game company doing it as a novelty, it appears to be an independent effort--so yeah, I am not hating on it actually, I just don't see it as a good gaming investment. For me personally that is. For the devs, I hope they are successful and that those who back it get a ton of use and fun out of their investment and belief in the company.

If anyone here at the Inn backs the Durangrar game, I'd love to see a review and some pics if the project is successful.
