I'm not really sure what you are trying to say here...?

The guy having made them for private use, doesn't really change my opinion of them. They look the way they look.
And why would I want to read a thread of other people conversations, when I can be a part of a conversation here? I don't need to read other people's opinions to form my own.
If the marketing ideas came from a forum, it just shows why you shouldn't take marketing advice from random Joes.

I don't believe in statistics as they are more often tweaked to accomodate an intended purpose, and this one...
How many of these adult women play Dragon City on facebook and similar ... games, and do you as a gamer, qualify these as games and gamers?
If so, then OK, if not, then, well, another set of stats to simple to be taken seriously.
For me, the term gamer has that positively nerdy ring to it that unqualifies facebook games, Sudoku (which is probably in there), and similar things. I can't really put my finger in it, but I also think I'm not alone in that assessment.
But interesting it is even though one should take it with a grain of salt and a pint.

Aaand...

The quoted text gk left out of his response was my point people asked questions here about this kickstarter and i was leaving a link to the answers to those questions. For myself at least i like to have my questions answered and i tend to put a bit of effort into getting them especially when i can get them straight from the source, so my point is if you wanted this information as my quoted text implied certain people did i was showing where to find it. Im not trying to change opinion as i dont really care either way i was trying to provide information if you cant be bothered to read it then why ask the question in the first place?

Yes... I would likely believe that this stat is hugely due to those pointless facebook or app style games. They spend 5 minutes every so many hours or once a day on. Hardly enough to class them as gamers. They get bored and move on to another similar game. Where as blokes, will get into 1 thing quite deeply (well a few things). Statistically, for small app style games this would make females a bigger % overall, even if there was less of them actually buying games. It all depends how they did the maths.

When it mentions Call of duty etc as been the biggest video game sellers, the paragraph before says, "The report ranks online and mobile puzzle games, board games, trivia games, and card games as coming in second to the boom in social games" So what is a social game? So all those games combined came in second to these social games but call of duty is the biggest seller... Ahh I see what they did... 'video' game sellers. they also didn't directly mention who was buying/playing the 'video' games, male or female as opposed to the games in general.

Actually, the full article is very badly written. The statistics in the study might be quite good, it's just how this article presents them.

edit: or do they mean social as in anti social... you can play them with your friends 'online' with out socialising... But wait doesn't that put the back into what came second, so they came second to themselves... lol!!!

It also fails to recognise that teenage boys take up a smaller % of the population. What it should look at is what % of teenage boys plays games and what % of adult women play games. What it will then find is most, nearly all boys play games, with a much smaller % of adult women doing so. Not forgetting at some point a women will likely play a game but to continue as one is another story.

It's natural to assume that if there are more of 1 type or 1 type remains that type for a longer period of time, they will take up a larger share. Especially as the older generation who didn't grow up in a time that the subject was a thing, dies out.

I'm really really sorry I missed this topic. Last month was super busy for me, I had subscribed to it, but one day I logged in to see it had spawned the world and didn't have time to read it at the time.
I kinda started the whole talk about sexism, but in the end I saw it shifted to politics.
Let me make a couple of remarks, although I didn't read the entire thread, but I think they relate to the issues discussed. Don't want to resurrect any of the previous issues but wanted to give my :2cents:

About sexism and/or feminism, I can say this: Feminism has sexism all over it. The word itself is sexist for god's sake. Should be called gender equality or something.
Also, as simplistic as it may sound, if one wants to fraggle members of one sex, and not members of the other sex, then they are sexist by definition. I'm not saying this to accuse people who are not bisexual, only pointing out that sexism is not all bad.
I am definitely a sexist and I am proud when I can discern some differences between the two sexes, which help me make better choices in my life. If being not sexist means being blind, then I'll pass.

As for politics, I did read some interesting stuff here, maybe a bit on the utopic side, but there's only one quote that sums up perfectly what I believe about it:
"Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others". It's from Winston Churchill but it may have originated from someone else, I don't know.

One last generic comment. Stop bitching. Not here, generally in your life. Don't bitch. Have a moan instead. One may think they're the same but they're not. I have a moan all the time, about greek tv, about stupid people in the supermarket, about bad drivers (mostly women by the way, it's not sexist if it's true)... But I don't bitch about it, I have a moan and move on.

Not first world car emissions are the most dangerous thing to the air, but too many third world thin cows farting too much in the Sahel.
There you go. Ecology.

And here was me avoiding the thread as I wasn't interested in the minis. Only to find out after a curious, "wow what happened in there to rack up so many pages. Didn't think the minis was that good". Looks like I missed out on some hot debate.
