Yeah, they are spendy. I saw some troll slayer minis going for about $100 each. Kind of nuts.
Sure it's pretty scary when the witch lord returns but what you should really be afraid of is "Resurrection of the Witch Lord". Resurrected baddies always come back more threatening than ever, usually kind of demonic with wings and horns and hell fire to announce their arrival. Think Gannondorf or Mother Brain from Super Metroid.

While we all like the thought of getting the exact miniatures officially chosen by GW to represent the monsters and characters from the White Dwarf expansions; deep down we all know they just picked the first random mini from the bunch and threw it in there...

Naw...More likely: At first they spent allot of useless time looking for the perfect mini in their stable, then at the last minute gave up on the quest and grabbed the first mini that roughly fit the idea.

If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

Pierre always seemed lightweight to me. He had this imposing persona of a heavily armoured knight; Helmet, Shield and Chain or Platemail, but had the defence dice of an unarmoured peasant, armed with a poxy shortsword. He'd obvioisly fallen on hard times since his last visit to the tombs! Unless of course he was actually the guy at the back with the coconut halves. This would explain why he was able to escape while his heavily armoured brethren in front perished!

I would be tempted to find the top half of a GW Bretonian Knight calvalry, preferably metal, and plastic legs from one of the armored Empire range. Both of these can be found quite cheap....That's just me though.

Red Box Games has a shitload of awesome realistic knight figures. Overwhelmigly beautiful stuff and not too expensive.

You're welcome. I'm a big fan of theirs. I actually proxied my Goblins with theirs.
The Zombies are briliant, too, if a little off scale (too small).
The knight figures are amazing though I unfortunately have no need for them, as of now. Then there's those great barbarians, drune style.
Amazing sculptors at work with Red Box Games.

It Galled me too much to use a knight figure for him. I could have used the guy from AHQ and just increased his attack and defence to 3/5. I used a scout instead, painted in Bretonnian colours. Even he was over armoured for Pierre with a shield! I am planning on using a real Bretonnian Knight in some quests this summer. He is the son of Pierre! I'm using the Knight figure from Dungeonquest.
