Finally finished making my HQ board. Now I am building a raised base with switches, battery pack and wiring underneath to illuminate the board. Going to post the progress on here in case it gives anyone ideas :)

Molding to help contain all the board peices in place

This will be built into quadrants for ease of transport

Going to have to raise the board next so I have space for the electronics

Gorgeous, exquisite, beauteous, comely.
An illuminated board is probably beyond my skills, but I might be able to manage the tiles someday. Can you tell us how you did the squares?

Yeah the wiring is going to be super tricky luckily a friend who is an electronic helped me with showing me how I need to wire it.
The squares? Do you mean the quadrants of the wood base I am making or are you talking about the painted squares of the board?

The actual painted squares, like what materials you used.

I used pink foam. Here is a pic of it after I cut the foam

This looks wonderful, really!!
I am also curious to know how you did the tiles (are they painted) and wich stuff you used to create them.
Also what about the illumination? Will the board be retro illuminated or what else do you mean? Curioius to see the final result.

EDIT: you already answered about material used while I was posting my comment...

On the foam after burning the squares in I used a mix of modgepodge and black acrylic paint and coated the entire thing. Then used acrylic paints to do the tiles. Used tiny rocks for the pebbles on the ground. Chewed up toothpicks for the wood chunks. and dried chicken bones for the skeletal remains. Finally sprayed the entire thing with a sealant

Not sure what retro illuminated means. I will be using fairy lights that will be coming up through the base I am building here. But its going to take a bunch of rewiring as I plan on having 4 switches so I can turn on one quadrant at a time or any combination of quadrants depending on where the players are and where they have been

These are the blueprints of where I am going with this.

left are the placement of the risers underneath each quadrant
Top right the dots are where the lights will be coming out up top.
Bottom right is how its going to be wired underneath

These will be what the lights are looking like so far. Still trying to thing of a way to have them only glare onto the board or will I just leave them as is

Impressive attention to detail. Did I miss it, what size are your squares?

Shots of new bigger boards next to the original are also great to see.
