Building a furniture/mini case

Found one of those fancy silverware cases at the thrift store. Pretty beat up. Going to revamp the whole thing to be a carrying case for all the 3D components (miniatures/furniture/doors/ walls etc). It's a dual level case so I am going to try to have all the miniatures on the top level and everything else on the bottom. Going to post progression on here in case it gives anyone ideas or inspiration.

Removed the fabric on the bottoms as they got pretty roughed up from removing the utensil holders. Then sanded it down. Went with a dark blue velvet I got at the fabric store.

Did the same with the top level. Bit of an issue with it sinking if it is not exactly centered so going to have to fix that

Cut some thin strips of wood to line the inside as it will be needed once I start gluing separators to make the proper sections. Plus it hides the damaged bits on the side and the white lining of the top section was quite filthy. The top still sinks a bit so working on a solution for that now

Your inside supports just need to be thicker so it won't drop down as easy.

I found some plastic columns at a thrift store a week ago. I'll be prepping those and have one in each corner

Sawed off one of the levels and sanded down to be level with the wood strips. Going to have to fill the hole so I get more coverage once I glue it down.

Filled the hole with plaster of Paris so it will glue down better

Due to sawing off part of the columns the top ended up being wider then the bottom, to compensate I cut some indents into the wood frame so the columns would sit flush.

Time to take a break on the interior and work on the exterior of the box
