Gearing up for Tomorrows' battles. Plenty of olives, cold meats, cornishons & red in our iron ration packs. Not sure about Marmite Sandwiches, will they keep o/night?? All relative really

Camera batteries on charge. Flesh, this is for you!! Marmite and Cheese Dream
Take a couple of slices of bread and spread with butter.
On one of the slices spread your Marmite on top of the butter (we'd recommend 4g, or about the end of a knife).
Now lay on a slice of your favourite hard cheese (e.g Cheddar, Emmental etc).
Finish off with some salad vegetables and close this delicious combo with the other slice of bread.
Everyone to their "druthers"

OK No.1 son will be Oberon, as it is an historical fact, that he fought three gargoyles by hisself & won.
No. 3 grandson will be Puck, as he led people astray! Perfect names for these two, even though I say it myself.
They arrived at 10-30am UK time, and we played till 5-30pm, with a short break to consume our iron rations. First we played The Rescue of Sir Ragnar, to give Oberon some familiarisation with the game, then we played a quest prepared by Puck, age ten. Oberon told me that Puck did it all by his self, with a Quest Plan I copied for him, plus a set of the monster cards. I have to say, he did really well! A very hard quest, lots of monsters, with an Ogre-Bowman he created as the main character, who had to be killed to please the King, with a substantial reward for the hero who did the deed. Oberon stood by to help him if required, but he coped very well, whilst I handled the Heroes. Bar-Dan, the Dragon Slayer soon lay dead on the floor. Sir Ragnar coped well, using the character sheet from this site, and managed to down the Ogre-Bowman. The Saracen, with characteristics of a Barbarian, handled himself well, and gathered a fair amount of loot, letting the others do all the fighting.
Finally we played a quest based on one I created many years ago. A band of the Undead had stolen The Spirit Blade, and hidden it in the Catacombs where they dwell. The Heroes searched from one side, whilst a band of Orcs, led by an Orc Shaman searched from the other. Both teams had to fight the Undead, find the Blade, and try to get out with it, without tangling with each other, but the quest was planned for them to meet up more or less at the Tomb where the Blade was hidden, and fight to the death. I have to say, the Orks got to the Blade first, and carried it off! So, the Heroes don’t always win, not in my quests.

Well, Oberon wasn't keen to have any pictures, as Puck is only ten, so I had to respect his wishes. I will try to talk him round for next time. Puck wants to do some monster painting, so I will be looking for an ebay job-lot for him to practice on

No need to take pics of the shy players themselves. All the action is on the board.

Those are the D&D starter set figures. I have them myself.
Some advice -
1) My acrylic paint wouldn't go onto this type of plastic, but I got some skull white spray from games workshop and that worked a treat to prime them.
2) I usually spray my figures with a matt varnish and because these figures are so soft they really need some sort of protection once they're painted. Annoyingly though the stuff I used has left them sticky and they absoulutely will not dry

So make sure you test whatever varnish you intend to use on the bottom of the base of one of these figures.
