I do, too. I read somewhere there are 3 variants of pronunciation.

In Denmark we mostly pronounce "i" differently than in the English language. There "i" is "aye" - more of an a or e sound. We normally pronounce it more how it sounds in "English".
So everyone in DK have no trouble agreeing how it should sound: two short syllables fí-mir - not long sounds like feee meeer.

Finnish will always be a funny language, even if we can read it properly without knowing anything about it.

Pronunciate the following words with English phonetics:

feemeer (with emphasis on first or second syllable)
feemur (or feemer, with less emphasis on the second syllable's vowel slightly more unrounded)
fimmeer (with emphasis on first or second syllable)

That's the three (five) variants out there, I think.
Alledgedly, the words fimir and fimm (as in, fianna fimm, the race's warrior caste) share the same root, which makes the fimmeer variant more plausible.
However, through language props and because of sound change (as a liguistic jargon expression) or phonotactics the vowel sound might change - as a rule - when a second syllable is contracted to the fim-root.

No example springs to mind, of course.
