So my letter reached Don Kueker and he called me earlier today, he may be able to send some sketches my way. But, as I suspected he doesn't have a copy of any quest pack, except the elf.
He was given a copy of the Elf Quest pack thanks to his contributions. He confirmed that he made some of the sketchwork designs for the molds, but as far as he knows, the Wizard quest pack was never complete. His words were that "the market bottomed up..." which supports there being an economic reason for lack of playtest. This contradicts my research, but I'd sooner take the word of someone that was there, as news can often be fabricated. I do intend to ask him more about this.
When Kueker described the project he said it was very compartmentalized (my words, not his). He didn't do the card drawings, as there were a lot of different people in charge of different things, and most of the people making contributions on one end were unaware of what was going on in other areas.
Kueker seemed to be delightful old man, 86 years old. He may have trouble hearing but he's very passionate about art.
We only talked for 15 minutes, but he welcomed me to call him tomorrow. Does anyone have any specific questions you think I should ask?
