The Frozen Horror Epilogue: A Dish Served Cold

In the discussion about how to use the artifacts that made their appearance in the “Into the Northlands” online quest, I had an idea to create an epilogue to close out arguably the worst quest pack ever made for this game. I recently finished this quest pack myself, and it was not fun. What better way to end such an experience than with a quest slightly comical in nature, that ties into “Into the Northlands”, and offers a possible explanation for a number of things. The quest also gives the Barbarian and the other players a chance to get revenge on those responsible for reviving the Frozen Horror, and for sending them on this mission.

I thought it would be fun to add quotes from Mr. Freeze (Batman and Robin movie), as well as one line from “Jingle all the way”, so the Zargon player should really try to get into it.

This quest assumes you played through “Into the Northlands” and placed the artifacts. The quest takes place shortly after the victory celebration described at the end of the quest pack. I created this quest using the excellent hquestbuilder website.

Components needed: The Frozen Horror quest pack, as well as a double wide door and throne from the AtOH. The Spiral Staircase can be replaced with the straight stairs tile on the opposite side, or another double wide door from AtOH.

Artifacts: I added two artifacts as placeholders for the heroes to have something nice to find. Feel free to omit them, or replace them with something else. Make sure to study the quest, so you know what to do beforehand. For those who want to know what the base items are, they are as follows:

Ancestral Blade: This magical, two-handed sword has been passed down by Barbarian kings for generations. It is not known what powers this blade may possess. It gives you the attack strength of 4 combat dice. You may not use a Shield when using this weapon. It can be used only by the Barbarian.

Ring of Ice: This magical silver ring is set with an icy blue gem. Once per quest the wearer may cast the Dread spell, Chill. Only a hero with the ability to cast spells may use this ring.
