So you’ve got all 10 of the quests for the Wizard pack, and 9 for the Dwarf pack? Is that correct? That’s very good news if so, as I always assumed that they weren’t so far along in the development. The quests are the real meat of an expansion, obviously. Which one of the Dwarf quests is missing? The last one I guess?

Uhm, sort of: they canceled quest 4 (with the outside tiles), and decided they were going to reuse map 8 (if I remember correctly) as map 10 (you return in the same place). So technically, you have 9 3/4 for the Dwarf. I think the Wizard quest almost just need some proofing and playtesting. The Dwarf need some more work. Apparently, our guy was the last one to touch the Barbarian and Elf, so the overall quality should be good.

What a shame that they did all that work and it never got released. Oh well, decades later the fans will finally get what they crave.

My personal opinion is, keep the quest that was suppose to be removed. since this is basically a restoration of what existed.
recreate it as represented, regardless of flaws. Then maybe later, a special errata or " companion" to address any oopies,
mistakes, and things that were left out.

The Elf and Barbarian packs were not perfect, Id even go so far as to say they were not play tested, at least not the Barbarian.
Solo quests with creatures that can hug you , and there is no escape? Pretty sure that should have been changed haha. In my games
I simply use the Ogre Hoard strength check to move stone doors. This means a wizard cant escape a Bear Hug without help, but
everyone else has a chance.

Did these follow the tradition of 3 solo quests first? Just curious as what I had previously seen of these two unseen quest packs,
it was almost as if the EU Wizards of Morcar scavenged some of the Wizard pack, both the four wizards, and their spells.

The removed one is not there, I just have the tiles. Should check if there's at least the Quest description. No map though, was probably removed before they got to the review stage.

Apparently, not much. Seems Hasbro didn't playtest them after the last review.

Yes, there's a letter that seems to be addressed to the 4 designers hired for the packs that asks them to do that. Actually, the idea is for them to be introductory quest for new characters.
It was the other way aorund: in 1991 the material for WoM and OTOH was already done, each designer was given a sprue of the expansions with monsters he had to fit in his pack, plus there are cards from WoM as a base for the Wizard Pack. Some kept the image, but changed the text of the spell. Designers were explicitly instructed NOT to use the OTOH body point count used in the questbook (there's a copy of that in the material)! :D

I didnt like the BP count thing. Even with 10 BP Id rather have Ogres with specific BP, or any monster for that matter, haha.
Personally that was one of my favorite things about the Elf and Barbarian pack. Monsters could actually last a couple rounds. :)

Indeed! If it's a matter of re-creating the art and miniatures ourselves, so be it. I'm more interested in the mechanics and lore. I've already re-created the EQP/BQP (which are inaccessible to most fans in terms of their sheer cost these days) using Reaper Miniatures and my own custom tiles, etc. So wouldn't mind doing it again (but sounds like I'll get some more use out of some of the miniatures I already have!).

I'm very interested in the notes and behind the scenes stuff. Preserving this for future generations of fans is a really great task. All the best and I'm sure it will be handled with respect. I just did a stream on this and you're welcome to join us on discord also!

I too agree with the "warts and all" release staying true to the original and then the errata and the "finished symphony" version. If you really could get the original designers/writers/artists to finish those parts even cooler, if we dare to dream... !

I too am interested in the updated versions of the WoM spells (the hero and bad guy spells). Most of the spells in WoM are pretty weak or not worth using, and the new spell groups for the Wizard hero were interesting, but also lackluster.

I'm hoping the Wizard does have some new spell choices in this WQP, or at least items and artifacts that make him stand out more.

I also love to see any new artifacts and equipment in particular. Its usually the first thing I glance at when looking at a new material. The super powerful dwarf artifacts sound intriguing.

Youtube video discussion of the news in this thread! (posted!)

It'll be already out of date as new info gets posted today, but feel free to comment. :dwarf: :wizard:

While reading through this thread and the links to Lestodante's blog I was reminded of an older conversation with some similar info (but much to confirm): here. Still looking for that sketch of the Centaur...

Would love to help anyway I can. Have quite a bit of experience creating Quest Packs. I’m not an artist but can help with creative thinking.
