I can see them riding wolves outside of dungeons. But inside I don't really see them mounted. The dungeon passages are usually confined spaces, not really ideal for mounted assaults of any kind. But hey, I'm all for mounted attacks in an outdoor Quest. The Goblin Riders from Battle Masters would fit nicely.

that's sort of what I was getting at. ideal for an outdoor/exterior quest, not so much on the interior.

I see your point.

I don't know if anyone has done this before - but for an outdoor quest - just use the board as one, wide open space -
the quest is basically for the characters to get from one side to the other - with the monsters blocking the way - kind
of a large-scale battlefield thing

perfect place for goblin riders.

hahaha

The thing is, there is only one very small out door area.

Perhaps use an outdoor tile to overlap the board somewhere (or sit beside it), and have the Quest go from inside, to outside and back in again, or what ever design pattern you need.

In Vengeance for Vengeance I made one Quest be an entire board of desert tiles. The Heroes just needed to cross it. I didn't have any Monsters, they just needed to survive the heat, but the same or similar can easily be done for other types of terrain tiles.

Ah, I could always use a bigger out door tile!

That's the spirit...

Of course, you could do what I've been pondering - should I ever have a real group to play HQ with again - I will still use
the furniture and tiles and stuff - but will rely also on simply describing what the characters see around them - a bit more
like a role-playing game, I know, but it really does allow for more versatility, while keeping the simple rules of HQ. As you
have seen in other places on here, I have found it very restricting trying to keep with ONLY the furniture and the tiles
that are provided (or fan made).

What I've been doing, as well, is making grid layouts to print off - I use MS PowerPoint, and turn that into a PDF that
can be printed off - I figured out how large to make squares so the spacing is right for the figures and furniture and
such - I left my flashdrive at work - I'll post a few of them later this week for you - UNDER THIS DISCUSSION if possible.

Great! Also, D&D sells great tiles for out door, and pretty much everything else for about 9 bucks. Please don't forget to put up those tiles!

sure will - I'll double check them tonight to make sure they are completed the way they should be
Now - I will warn you - they're very simple. I'm talking - I made an inn common-room, for example -
white background with the grid squares - and light brown circles for tables, a light brown area for
the bar, and light brown small rectangles for the doors. No actual pictures or hand-drawn stuff.
Very simple.

But - it meets its purpose - you can use it to show your players where the tables are, where the
doors are, and where the bar is - they can move in between the tables and around other
patrons and all - it works for what you need it for.

So far - I have an inn common-room; the inn hallway with the guest rooms; I have a forest
setting (this shows where the tree trunks are, and where the treetops would be, if someone
is up in the tree - and rules for climbing up and down the tree); I have a rocky/cliff setting;
and I have several simple hallway pieces - of course, you can find these anywhere - I won't put
those up unless you REALLY want them - they're free, so you might.

I'm probably going to do a graveyard setting, possibly a swamp setting, maybe a riverbed/stream setting.

I'll try to remember to bring my flashdrive home tomorrow - I'll print the pieces off to make sure they work
and I'll put them up (as long as drathe doesn't mind very simple tile pieces up here) - should be up tomorrow
evening.
