That list wasn't a 'write all these' on your card. it was an example showing you how i figure out mechanics. Then i try to come up with the shortest way to write all those points, if 1 can be removed with out breaking the mechanic i will do. It's the reasoning with ones self, lol. Try it on your next card. Write each individual point like it was a line of code.

This spell leaps 4 times between all Monsters and Heroes in the same room or corridor.

'All' is a huge problem in that line. This can be interpreted as it leaps 4 times between each model in the room 4 times each.

Frog Lighting:
1. Must leap 4 times or until spell is broken
2. Caster chooses order of attacks
3. In room or corridor caster is stood
4. Can hit Monsters and/or heroes, including the caster
5. Can hit the same target more than once but not twice in a row
6. 1st target defends against 4Cd6, 2nd 3Cd6 and so on
7. Is broken when Cd6 reach 0 or no one left to leap too
8. Discard after use

Now all you need is a 60 word paragraph to include all those points.

I prefer something less perfect and more descriptive of the spell effect:

This spell creates a bolt of silver controlled by the caster which must leap between targets in the same room or corridor. The bolt has 4 attack dice and loses one die per leap until no leap can be performed or all dice are expended. In the absence of enemy targets the bolt must leap to heroes.

57 words.

Yes there is some ambiguity there ("it doesn't leap to heroes unless there are no enemy targets!") but this minor ambiguity fits right in with the original spells. AND we know what you meant.
Has resigned from the forum and would delete his account if he could.

Yes i agree, i'd even ditch the "this spell" malarkey, i know it's HQ terminology but in my write ups, it would start more like, "Release a bolt of energy".

The search for the perfect wording went a little overboard.
I guess I'll go the "the players aren't actually retarded"-route.
I think I got the cards the way they need to be now...

Also the artwork is coming along great. Here's a teaser ;)

"This combat spell may be cast on any one monster or player. Roll 1 red die to determine the number of magical splinters. The target defends like normal against this number of combat dice. Discard after use."

Only use "amount" when referring to something that cannot be counted: "who can gauge the amount of suffering in the world?"
Only use "number" when referring to something that can be counted: "who can guess the number of jelly beans in the jar?"

These spells are great.

Interesting, I didn't know this one. I would have presumed 'amount of jelly beans' would be ok but i'd of been wrong. Thank you.

http://grammarist.com/usage/amount-number/

"This spell may be cast on any one monster or player.
The Target is hit by a number of magical splinters.
Roll 1 red die to determine how many * combat dice
the target must defend against.
Discard after use."

*could include Attack there
Could also insert the line 'Target defends as normal' but... Is it needed?
