I think bracers can be combined with a chainmail, which justifies buying the second, or I am wrong? Probably the card does not explain it but it's a posibility I think.

I can review the video again but I thought it only mentioned the helmet and shield being able to be combined with the bracers (not for the Wizard or Warlock obviously).

Edit: Reviewed Cosmic Tavern's video again and the equipment card states:

Bracers:
ARMOR - These hardened leather bracers give you 1 extra Defend die. May be combined with
the helmet and/or shield.

350 gold coins

Edit: 11/12/21, I see I was mistaken the card clearly says 550 gold as we now know!

I think Hasbro should clarify in certain future if bracers can be combined with chainmail or not... Fortunately I guess that an official FAQs for the new HeroQuest may be available somewhere (To Be Confirmed of course) like boardgames companies do like FFG. If finally bracers cannot be combined in that way it has no sense buying a chainmail, as you pointed.

Hi again,
There are some new unboxing videos in YouTube from channel deadgamer. I could have checked there that Kellar's Keep expansion also brings a new small token which is called "Statue tile" at the rules of the questbook but I could not found in any page shown in the video any text about such tile. The tile shows a statue of (I guess) a mummy with a sword and a shield. Once I noticed that such tile exists I thought it was linked with the gargoyles statues of quests #1 and #7 of this questpack but when I checked that the shown monster was a mummy instead of a gargoyle, I changed the opinion... the tile also has its own map symbol but I have not found it in any quest map.

This KK unknown tile is the third one I think we have now, considering the skulls unknown tile from ROTWL expansion which is also mentioned at the beginning of its questbook but I have neither found yet where it is explained and the unknown heroes/zargon tile included in the new Basic Game System box.

Maybe all those three new tiles are only extra ones to be used in custom quests? Could they be part of an obscure unknown game designed by Hasbro to blast our minds searching for their meaning? Hahaha

In deadgamer ROTWL video I have also noticed that two or three of the Spirit Riders tombs tiles' art is slightly different than the originals. Tombs symbols are different, I guess maybe trying to avoid any real-life religious references? It is quite surprising since the art of the tiles is in general an exact copy of the originals, except those tombs...

Great find Hispazargon, I'll post up that links on the OP! |_P

Odd about the "Bone Pile" tile (ROTWL) and "Statue" (KK, interestingly it has a map symbol in the book!) and mystery tile "Zargon/Mentor Symbols" (GS).
Maybe it's a "Proof of purchase"? (Cash that in for the "app"?).

deadgamer of youtube's channel: HeroQuest Comparison #1
Kellar's Keep Comparison Video (#2)
Return of the WitchLord Comparison Video (#3)

(and now having watched his "walkthroughs" of the quest books) :D

The intro video he doesn't reveal much other than showing the relative box sizes and his recommendation.

Starting into the KK video I see already they refer to the Orcs Zargon has gathered as "allied Orcs" they also don't capitalize "Evil Sorcerer" and sometimes refer to the King as "His Majesty."

Grin's Crag survives, as do the Halls of Belorn. The Great Citadel, the titles of all of the quests, the same, layouts look the same too.

"Let no man say..." replaced with "Let no one say..." (Quest 5)

"Each of you will receive..." replaced with "Each of you has earned..." (Ending)

Allied Orcs... meaning some of them aren't allied with Zargon (ie: could be neutral or possibly good).

ROTWL Video, back of the box doesn't mention Karak Varn (or as it's known in the remake "Kaba Karn"), but it does mention the "mutant army." |_P

They took the crosses off of the Tombstone tiles... (replaced with badguy symbols and swords?)

I see in the quest books they've eliminated the "privacy envelope" (a page full of orange dots and brown blotches) patter pages from the quest book. I guess they're not so worried about people trying to see through the pages. The worst temptation these days is for a kid to look up the quest maps on their phone (which is why we use alternate layouts!).

The shiny paper might show fingerprints and creases easier and wouldn't take pencil quite so well as the old ordinary paper. The lack of rusty staples is a good thing but if that stitching comes out it will be harder to repair if you're not an experienced book binder I suppose.

I like this deadgamer guy's comparisons... you can see the difference in shade of green for the classic figures (which, granted, came in various shades) to the new ones.

He shows that despite the KK/ROTWL being single sided (white on the back like the originals), the cardstock for the tiles is much thicker (like the GS) rather than really thin like the US versions were for these. I guess the upside is if you mix the expansion tiles in with your GS tiles, you can spot them easier in the pile because of the stark white backs to them.

Hmm, the gold values are listed on the Potion Equipment cards too. Does this mean you can sell them back to the Alchemist shop (or rather to the Armory, since that's where all equipment goes) between quests? An unused potion should be worth the same value (vs. a weapon or piece of armor that may have started to warp/rust or display wear and tear). Do potions lose their vitality over time? Granted, this wouldn't be an unlimited gold trick, because without the homebrew rule you probably won't be stockpiling too many of these particular potions from KK/ROTWL. Plus no gold values on the Treasure deck potions. Still, interesting.

Also, I see KK/ROTWL have a 'build your own quest' blank at the end of their respective quest books, with the map symbols. That's something that wasn't in the originals! (unlike the GS where it was all right there for you, you had to copy the symbols and then copy the GS quest book again to get that).

Looks like the covers to the Quest books are the same kind of "glossy magazine print" as the rest of the books, there's no real "cover" to speak of, like the originals that had a kind of thicker cardstock cover (not the US GS, I think some of them like the US edition or the 1st edition and Japanese version were just paper covers).

He gave you a shout out HZ, in a new video just posted!

no armory/armoury, only cards
Might be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find it in the box. The old school version had it printed on the underside of the box. I could always Google search an image, but it seems weird to not be there. They even mention the armory at the end of the quest instructions book.

The cards don't limit the supply of purchasable equipment, they've said that from the beginning.

In this remake edition the "Armory" is merely a concept, much like in the Japanese version (even though that edition DID limit supply by cards) than a physical object. Too bad, they had the spare cardboard that they could have printed up a "menu" of the equipment cards, much like they did for the Alchemist Shop/Spell Scrolls, and pasted it to that white piece of cardboard. Oh well...

The person is misremembering... what was on the "underside of the box" were the assembly instructions. Some people probably haven't played the game since they were kids, so go easy on 'em.

Then again it wasn't spelled out that you could sell Equipment back to "The Armory" at half price until the EQP/BQP in 1992 (although the Japanese edition also explicitly had this rule in 1991 in its equivalent of the "game system"). Somehow we "knew" about this rule as kids playing the US version, I guess because of other games having similar concepts?

I wonder if this rule is clarified in the new edition (about selling)? Or will we have to wait for the remake edition of BQP for that? I guess if they follow suit copying & pasting, then it will probably be the case. Why mess with it? (like suddenly you get only 45% of the value or something)

Nice pic. Can't see the right edge very well but the other pic shows the whole thing (just needs to be zoomed and rotated to look proper). |_P

So no changes really. The Rulebook (and the Mythic exclusive new questbooks) are what remain for spoilers now...
