I have a map editor made in Excel... it is from 2004, can it be the one you're after?

Thanks, but no. It was a stand alone executable, not via Excel. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and track down my neuropathologist colleague who borrowed by 486 laptop to back up 3.5" floppies with pathology data to CD ... as I'm fairly certain the program is still installed on that machine (now 20 years old!!)

I'm almost certain I started using this before v1.6, maybe back in 1999 or 2000? Anyway, the guy who wrote it, Frank, went by the screen name "manaburn".

Warning to modern Windows users... it doesn't work the greatest these days (I'm using Windows 7, which is already old, and the editor has refresh issues)

OK. This saves a lot of time manually doing everything in Photoshop!

Hahaha that's so cool.

Only people like us would be able to track down a 20 years old software for a 30 years old game.

I have written a little something in python that extracts the esp symbols of heroscribe to high resolution png's or bmp's. Let me know if you need some of the symbols.

Is it possible HeroQuest Game Master provides a B&W map output option? The Heroquest no-IP site seemed to indicate it could with the link. The interface and year agree.

I have since found the Original German version from 2001 as well as the updated English & French versions from 2002 on the HeroScribe website of all places! http://www.heroscribe.org/markmiller/downloads.htm

And I also (finally) found the original author's full name with some searching through the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine:

I tested them. Ah the music of the Amiga game!

Did not work very well, sadly. I guess we will have to find our own solution.
