Arcane Qu'est 2 was indeed developed by a Heroquest fan. He was online here in the inn once in a while. What drove me away from it is that the quests apparently are random.... I just like too much the storyline aspect.

Just tried number 3.
That's a lot closer to HQ. I like it!

Hero Quest was my all time favorite back in the days until I became alll grown up a stopped playing it. However some years later I came across similar games to it such as Dragon Strike and Dungeons and Dragons and I developed a liking to them since they reminded me of Hero Quest.

Castle of the Winds

The Spirit Blade and Elven Boots remind me of the Master Sword and all the different types of boots in Legend if Zelda. I'm somewhat surprised nobody created the Mirror Shield as an artifact for Hero Quest. It would work like a regular shield, but has the capability to deflect spells back at the caster.

But the game that reminded me the most was The Immortal.

Surprised no one put the Diablo series on here. Or Quest For Glory. Or Skyrim. Or Divinity Original Sin 1/2. Heck any RPG.

Dark quest 2 on the PS4 has a strong HeroQuest vibe.

I am playing Neverwinter nights enhanced edition on steam right now. The wizard has to choose spells for the next day to memorize and sleep before he can use them. There is a lot of DnD 3rd edition rolls too. The quests are pretty basic.
